Dubai Airport To Build New Seychelles International Airport

Recently, it was announced from Dubai, that Dubai Airports was to build the new Seychelles International Airport. In Seychelles, the matter was pretty much silent.
Consequently, the LDS Opposition called in the new Minister of Transport and Aviation, Mr. Alain St. Ange, to reply to questions on the veracity of this agreement. St. Ange seemed to be playing catch up on the question.

Welcome Dubai Airports To Seychelles

The announcement of Dubai Airports Seychelles project should be welcome by Seychelles. It is a Golden Opportunity, that will cement Seychelles Tourism Industry, with a serious partner who has earned the reputation as delivering " The Best International Airport Experience in The World". Dubai leads the world in airport technology, and know how. Dubai has become the envy of the United States in airport infrastructure, to the point that Donald Trump, President elect has said UAE has run circles around America in this field.

Negotiate A Solid Lease
Seychelles should negotiate a serious lease with Dubai International. This should include, new terminals, double run ways, deadline for non performance, guaranteed lease payments, heavy penalties for delayed construction, and preferential rates for Air Seychelles, reserved duty free shop space for local business, and other concessions .
The lease should be for 25 years. Thereafter, the airport shall be handed over to Seychelles government, or lease renegotiated. The deal is a no brainer and all parties should support it. Why?

We Are Bankrupt
We are bankrupt, that is why we should all support this project. Seychelles does not have the money needed $400 Million to build a new airport. Mauritius had the PRC build their new airport, and Mauritius is booming today, while we are falling behind, bickering, over nonsense, and allowing half witted politicians make a call, without considering the consequences of the call. If we do not make a serious deal on the international airport now, we will condemn another generation of Seychellois to poverty, who will join the 49% already listed there, under the GENIE INDEX.

Take Revenues Out of The Hands of The Corrupt
Another advantage of a lease agreement with Dubai Airports, is we will remove once and for all the corrupted elements of the good old boys, scamming revenues and opportunities, for themselves, at the expense of the Nation. Targets need to be set that the Lessee will have to meet, give guarantees. It's a no brainer.

If Dubai does not build the airport, our other option is a refurbishment financed by New Dehli.........but do not expect a new roof, just some fresh paint.

Fidel Castro Dies....Faure Thinks He Is Still Alive!

It is with profound sadness that I have learnt of the passing away of dear El Comandante, Fidel Castro, great historical figure beloved by the Cuban people and millions across the world.
I am deeply grateful for the very special affection that he had for Seychelles. Under his guidance, Cuba played a pivotal role towards our efforts for development.
On behalf of the people and government of Seychelles, and on my own behalf, I send to you and the Cuban people, our sincerest condolences.
Great men do not die. They live on in the hearts, minds and work of the many that they have inspired.
With Fraternal Regards,
Danny Faure

Honorable Woodcock Moves In Right Spirit!

November 18 at 4:21pm

Meeting with the Executive arm of the Government at the Grand Anse Praslin District Administration:

In the spirit of transparency and accountability and for the purpose of public Knowledge I wish to inform the people of Praslin of the highlights of my meeting with the President, Vice President, Designated Ministers, the DA and other stakeholders regarding projects, capitals projects and development plans for the progression of our district Grand Anse Praslin.

The meeting started with presentation of the DA’s plans of action for the district. The DA and I have met twice to discuss matters concerning Grand Anse Praslin district and its residents:

We met on Friday prior to the meeting on Saturday and went through the plan of action, especially for major projects forecasted for 2017. The DA took into consideration my inputs and I am happy that many of my concerns and proposals and that of the residents of Praslin has been included in the plan of action.

In the spirit of National Unity, equality and working together, I Wavel Woodcock the MNA for Grand Anse Praslin are willing to work with the executive and every inhabitant of Grand Anse Praslin irrelevant of their political affiliation and religion. We are one people, one Nation and we should be able and willing to work together for the betterment of Seychelles.

The DA presented the plan of action, which I endorsed and validated and added emphasis on pertinent issues and other concerns not included in the plan of Action.

Highlights of Plan of Action presented by the DA including capital projects that will be catered for by other Ministries and Agencies (with my Emphasis added).

1. Surfacing of Grand Anse Praslin Road by SLTA.
I also emphasize on the urgency of resurfacing all Praslin roads, especially the Consolation road.
Members of the public also spoke of the need to enlarge the Consolation road as it is a danger to motorists.

2. Streetlights (ongoing project) by PUC AND SLTA

3. Drainage project; first phase of the drainage project will begin at Roche Corbizeau and the ex-teachers estate Amitie which will eventually progress to other-sub district.

4. To resolve the ice and bait scarcity at Grand Anse Praslin, an SME’s project to install an ice plant solar container to assist fisherman/fishing community with ice and bait will begin early next year.
5. Construction of a Modern Day Care Center next to STC retail Central Grand Anse.
6. There is a redevelopment plan for Grand Anse Central District which include a Marina which I believe will help boost the economy of Grand Anse Praslin(GAP).
I have often spoke about refurbishing the Grand Anse Praslin Jetty and building a Marina. Such project will be well received by the inhabitants of GAP.
7. The DA spoke about unity. That the district population and community must come together and be more engaged in the daily life and to take ownership of their community and district in general

8. He also spoke about the need for consultation with the community. Encouraging discussion with other stakeholders including local businesses.

I also emphasize in my presentation the need for the inhabitant of Praslin to have access to information. Land and house applicants should have access to information and their personal files, especially in regards to their status and availability of houses.

I also requested that the MNA should also have access to housing and land bank files and must be involve in the decision making process in the allocation of houses and lands.

Ministers and other Government Agencies must consult with the General public and District Administration before starting any capital Project that will directly affect the community.
In my intervention and presentation in the meeting I also emphasized and added a few key points not included in the DA’s.

1. Building a Centre for the disabled. For recreational activities, business activities and capacity building. A plot of land has been allocated at Marie-Jeanne Estate for the project
I also spoke about placement for the disabled-work placement, the government should facilitate.
Concession for the disabled travelling to Mahe on boats and plane fares.
The President gave an executive order to do the same at the meeting.

2. Water Sports- Equipment’s, canoes, boats, kayaks and other assets are in deplorable conditions. In fact water sport is becoming an endangered species in Grand Anse Praslin.
The National Sport council and Ministry in concern must look into this.

3. Basketball court needs lighting (floodlight) and a cover (roof) to enable athletes to practice and match to take place during rainfalls.

4. I also spoke about reopening and maintaining the ‘La Pleine Hollandaise’ road (trail) being used by both residents and tourist. The road is not being maintained and is now overrun by bushes. On several occasion tourist have been attacked on the road.

In case of emergency this road can be an alternative route and access point between the two districts.

5. I also spoke about setting up a Praslin development fund which will be run by an impartial board.
A percentage of the money collected by SIF, other nature reserves and islands in the Praslin’s perimeters must should go into a trust fund, managed by a Praslin development board.
The money will be used for projects, even capital projects as deemed fit by the board. The money will also come in handy in times of emergency, crisis or natural disasters.

6. I also spoke about redistribution of wealth, especially the monopoly and oligopoly that few businesses are enjoying in the local market without the government regulating them.
I spoke on vertical integration and how many businesses are being affected.

Other key points raised by members of the public.

1. Allocation of Ile Eve lands. Praslin residents are complaining that mainly foreigners and businesses from Mahe are benefitting from the land at the expense of the Praslinois people.

2. Not enough money is being allocated for the development of youth and youth activities on Praslin.

3. Access to Anse Georgette which is being denied. Something must be done about this. All should have access to all our beaches.

Other matters I’ve discussed with the DA .
1. Erosion of the Grand Anse Praslin costal region. What studies have been undertaken and what is being done about the issue.

2. Housing project, affirmed by the Minsiter in the National Assembly that a self-financing schemes project will begin next year at the ex-police estate Central Grand Anse Praslin.

If I have omitted or missed anything those present at the meeting please feel free to comment or make any contributions or additions.

All other inputs are welcomed.

Inter Ministerial Cross Sector Held on Praslin

Responding to Praslin Business community for a inter ministerial cross sector to be held on Praslin regularly to address problems facing the Praslin business community, the Government of Seychelles, sent the Vice President ( designated as the minister of Inner Islands) to handle this request, and touch base in a Three (3) hour meeting at Raffles Hotel Conference Room, Anse Boudin, Praslin.

Vice President Waste No Time

The Vice President wasted no time, no small talk with the business community. It was a frank business setting, with all key issues open on the table, to brief him on his new portfolio, in details, that only the Praslinoise would have the stomach to digest.

World Bank Chain Analysis Report May 2016

The first key topic of discussion was the World Bank Chain Analysis Report filed by three World Bank experts on Vertical Integration in May, 2016. This Report focuses on how to best insure that each Tourism Dollar is distributed to as much of the cross sections of society as possible, and not bottle neck with Two (2) or Three (3) megladon operators.
The World Bank has been cited numerous times, saying that it is imperative, that Tourism revenue is spread across a wide cross section of the business community, and not confined to only a few accounts. This reduces risk for the macro economic picture of any country, insured political and social stability, guaranteed prosperity for a people, and increase the overall National Yield.

This Report was promised by the Minister of Finance Jean Paul Adam, but has been shelved, due to work pressures, of course, and changing ministries abruptly.

Praslin Fisherman Association Speaks Out!

The Praslin Fishermen Association longtime standing Chairman Mr. Darrel Green, expressed discontent on a number of issues that affect the Praslin Fishing Industry. These include: 1. Lack of adequate ice production, 2. Ice plant does not bag ice, hence does not store ice beyond 150 kilo capacity, 3. Demand is for 5000 kilo of ice stock, 4. 1000 kilo production per day, 4. Inadequate moorings, harassment by NDEA of fishermen, combined with disrespect, 5. Need for modern fish processing centers, hotels source fish on Mahe, which is unacceptable, when adequate quality and supply exist on Praslin. Generally, the points highlighted were address by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Benstrong, who has committed himself, to address these issues along with numerous others highlighted.

Boat Charter Address Vice President and Minister of Tourism
Adrian Uzice, a boat charter operator address numerous issues, of inadequate business available for 126 boats licenses on Praslin. A detail presentation was made, the Vice President promised his energy, commitment, to see what must be done to change this situation. In support, was the Minister of Tourism, Alain St. Ange, who for many years, has been working with the Tourism Trade, and remains highly regarded, in spite of efforts of some of his former SNP friends, insistence that he be run through the mill, when he has more serious matters to attend to like: make sure Tourist keep coming to Seychelles, make sure flights keep increasing, make sure our presence is made across the world on a shoestring budget.

Anyone that attacks St. Ange without serious cause, does not care if the People of Seychelles eat. So long as his attackers eat, and have access to their private swimming pools behind the Church, they are happy. People of Seychelles ask who is helping us, who is sinking us? We will unite on the answer.

Other Matters
The Vice a president was kind, cordial to all those present. He offered us a lunch, and we all had time for a meal, as civilized people, and we discussed further the issues we face, and the way forward.

We did not make jokes over serious issues, we did not tease each other, or have to laugh like a hyena by covering our face into our arm pits as some do, no names mentioned.

The agenda was well served, Praslin now has the focus it needs, and we expect this momentum to pick up on part of the energetic, engaging, humble, Vice President.
Once under way, we expect the economic potential of Praslin to be unleashed and Praslinoise on the way to a better life, which we deserve, since we are the highest per capita island, in spite, of all the set backs. ........just imagine, where we would be today, if We had been encouraged to move forward, instead of been advise to stay backwards and silent.

A Tough Day on Praslin For President Faure

President Faure kept his promise to come to Praslin, after visiting La Digue. It proved to be a tough day for President Faure.

Walk into District Office

After arriving by ferry, with his entourage of personnel and security, he filmed a walk about in Baie St. Anne in front of the fishermen stand. The scene was a bit stressful. Perhaps President Faure did not know, he was walking just past the Baie St. Anne heroin den. If you felt like zombies were onlooking, you now know why.

Baie St. Anne Meeting

In attendance at the meeting were all key players that make the island work. school head teachers, MNA, ferry operators, charter operators, Fisherman Association, Police, and so forth. In total about 20 strong.

In attendance from government were, Designated Minister, Macsuzy Mondon, Vice President, Vincent Meriton, the President, MNA , DA and so on.  It was a high level meet, unprecedented in recent Seychelles history. The President deserves compliments for pushing for such high level meetings.

The Tough exposes itself!

As the floor open for discussion, Darrel Green ask for fresh elections. Quite an embarrassing request given that the President is elected on a ticket. Hence, he DOES have a mandate to run the country. If he did not, why did they receive him at the National Assembly?
The Headteacher for Baie St. Anne address the need for a fence, gate, and dogs dumping trash in the yard over the weekend. Tough. Hardly an issue to be discussed with the President.
Fishermen complained of lack of infrastructure to implement the Blue Economy policy. While other districts in Mahe were on their send or third phase of infrastructure up grade in fisheries, Praslin has been left behind, operating on fisheries infrastructure, dated back to 1980.
The drug addiction issue was raised, and alarmed all present that, 1500 drug addicts on an island with a population of 7200, is simply unacceptable. Where did we go wrong?
How can we move forward?
Many business are failing on Praslin. Government and the President is aware of this. In response, he has named the Vice President Vincent Meriton in charge of Inner Islands to deal with issues facing Praslin, to turn her around, for the people, and for the Nation.
Noticeably absent was the Taxi Association, they must have starved to death by now.

Key Message

The key message, it seems rounded on national reconciliation and an official pardon by the President, on behalf of his party. That is fine.  Most reasonable people can accept this for minor infractions,in the life of the Nation, but I doubt if it will carry much weight, in murder, mayhem, disappearance, financial ruin of families, because of politics and victimization.

Cross Sector Praslin

A proposal was made for a cross sector meeting to take place with ministers and the Vice President, to address the serious issues Praslin faces. It is envision that this would be an appropriate method of work. Praslin, naturally, looks forward to Mr. Presidents reply......the sooner, the better, for Praslin, for the Nation.

Bon Courage!

Air Seychelles Makes Brilliant Move !

AIR SEYCHELLES ANNOUNCES MAJOR EXPANSION IN EUROPE AND INDIAN OCEAN IN 2017

  • Non-stop twice-weekly flights from Seychelles to Düsseldorf
  • Non-stop twice-weekly flights from Seychelles to Durban
  • Paris service frequency increase from three to four flights per week
  • Additional regional capacity to Johannesburg, Mauritius and Mumbai
  • Second wide-body Airbus A330 to enter fleet

Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, has announced a major fleet and network expansion that will see the airline introduce a second Airbus A330 aircraft, commence non-stop services to Düsseldorf (Germany) and Durban (South Africa), and significantly strengthen its existing regional network in early 2017.
The airline plans to establish the air bridge between Seychelles and Germany on 30 March, 2017, by launching a twice-per-week service to Düsseldorf, in western Germany.
To further strengthen its European network, Air Seychelles will also upgrade its Paris service from three to four flights per week, with effect from 28 March 2017, giving more travel options to holidaymakers visiting Seychelles from France.
Effective 30 March 2017, the Seychelles flag carrier will also commence a twice-weekly service to South Africa’s port city of Durban, an important trade hub that is home to over three million people, complementing its existing five-a-week service to Johannesburg.
Roy Kinnear, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, said: “Air Seychelles has grown extensively and robustly in 2016 and is now ready to embark on the next exciting chapter of its evolution, further enhancing air access to our archipelago and bringing more holidaymakers and business people to our shores.
“Both stakeholders, the Government of Seychelles and Etihad Airways fully support the airline’s plan to develop its European network by establishing a non-stop connection to Germany, a strategically-important market that is currently the second-largest source of inbound tourism after France.
“More than 29,200 people from Germany have visited Seychelles so far this year, representing an increase of nine per cent over 2015, demonstrating the importance of opening up air links to this part of the world.
“Together with the new service to Durban, additional flights to Paris and increased regional capacity, these developments will lay the foundations for solid long-term growth of the Seychelles national airline and country's economy.”
The airline’s second Airbus A330 aircraft is scheduled to be delivered in the last week of March 2017 and will have a two cabin configuration with 18 Business Class and 236 Economy Class seats.
Mr Kinnear said: “The addition of a second wide-body A330 to our fleet is set to open up significant growth opportunities, enabling Air Seychelles to extend its network footprint in Europe and the Indian Ocean region.
“The new Düsseldorf service is an exciting and much-awaited development that will provide travellers in Germany and the wider catchment area of Belgium, Holland and Scandinavia with attractive new travel options to Seychelles.
“The German market has traditionally been a key source of leisure tourism for Seychelles and our Düsseldorf service has tremendous potential for driving passenger growth and stimulating the tourism economy of our islands.”
In addition to capturing point-to-point traffic flows, the Düsseldorf flight schedule has been carefully timed to give international travellers seamless connections over Seychelles to Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, Mauritius and Johannesburg.
Mr Kinnear said that Air Seychelles will further strengthen its presence in Europe by developing its Paris service and codeshare network.
“To maximise aircraft utilisation of our wide-body fleet, we are going to deploy an A330 on an additional fourth weekly frequency to Paris, which combined with Düsseldorf, will provide an unprecedented 3,048 return seats between Seychelles and Europe each week.
“We have developed strong codeshare partnerships with airberlin, Alitalia, Air Serbia, Etihad Airways and Air France, widening our reach to over 35 cities in Europe, and will continue to strengthen our relationships in the months to come.”
In addition to flying to Europe, the Airbus A330 will be used to increase capacity on the airline’s five-per-week regional services to Johannesburg, Mauritius and Mumbai which are currently operated on a narrow-body A320.
The introduction of a second wide body A330 will facilitate the upgrading of capacity on South Africa’s largest city Johannesburg on Thursdays and Saturdays, Mumbai on Saturdays and Mauritius on Sundays, increasing the combined seat capacity on these routes by 23 per cent.
This development will allow Air Seychelles to allocate an Airbus A320 to launch flights to Durban, the second point served by Air Seychelles in South Africa, offering 14,171 seats to and from Seychelles each year as well as quick connections over Seychelles to Düsseldorf and Mumbai.
Mr Kinnear said: “South Africa has strong trade, people and diplomatic ties to Seychelles that we can develop in the future with the establishment of a Durban service.”

More Hocus Pocus on Taxes

Ex Minister of Finance Jean Paul Adam has left his bouncy policies hanging about, that show he has no understanding of how/ what makes a economy work, what will make it grow.
President Danny Faure I am sure means well, but he surrounds himself, with these quasi professionals that wear Lacoste tight shirts, tight pants, and sound good, but dish out a lot of non sense. I will clearly, outline the nonsense for Mr. President, dished out by Minister Jean Paul Adam at Finance. Here it goes.

I. Minister is proposing before he goes to Ministry of Health (Hell) the following:

Presumptive tax shall go from 1.5% straight to 5%.

Here Minister, the defender of Small Medium Enterprises, instead of reducing their tax exposure, he increases it. This is non sense because Minister does not take into account how difficult it is to run a small business in Seychelles. Most Employers cannot pay themselves. Additionally, most small business under the SME schemes and SENPA have traditionalLy been employment substitution schemes. Now Minister wants to gauge this group of 5% on turnover, before deducting expenses. May as well dish them some lanet. They will die an easier death, Minister.

II. Minister is proposing to raise Business at as on sole traders, to a whopping 20% , just like that, inclusive will be partnerships.

What has the government done more to merit 5% more in taxes? When you work out the numbers, the amount is astronomical, what will MOF do with all this money? Taking these funds from business, that must replenish stocks, re invest, take loans at 15% interest which is a crime in itself to compete, is again more Nonsense, dozed in lack of practical experience by a theoretical Minister, who has turn Ministry of Finance up,side down, and turn the Public against Le Pep.

III.  The Minister and his tight shirt Principal Secretary Patrick Payet who has a fixation for blue cocktails and long straws, want to curb abuse of the system. More Non sense. Abuse can only be determined on a case by case basis, that is why you have AUDITS. Minister treats turnover as income, without regard for stock maintenance and the need to meet operational expenses. In taxation, it is like Minister is on Uppers and Downers or at least his principal Secretary is.

Mr. President, blood test these "dudes", you will never know what you find.

What is clear, is the reaffirmation that the Minister lacks a firm footed position in understanding how a economy works and how businesses function. He also attempts to pass on his own ministries failure to adequately staff to deal with the challenge we face. A double standard tax system is what he has created. A system where some must pay, others do not have to pay. A system where operators can scam the fine lines of concessions and make millions in some cases. All and all, he has advance an unfair and overly complicated system that has gone beyond his ability to reasonably Police and monitor.

National Assembly Must Draw The Line

When this bogus nonsense comes before the National Assembly, they must bin it. Simple. After that, let Adam go sort through the expired medications Mitcy Larue administration ordered, while she was at Health.

Mr. President, heads up, Adam is pulling a fast one so people laugh at you.

Le Pep Losing Praslin As Support Base

The ruling party, Le Pep is losing ground heavily, and quickly in Praslin, a former stalwart strong hold. In the last election, they lost Grand Anse, Praslin as a seat in the Parliament.  Baie St. Anne seat saw the largest and most significant degradation of votes by near -500 votes, making it now a district within reach of victory by the Opposition. What is causing the fall out?
Mitcy Larue Family Becoming Richest Family
Minister Mitcy Larue, Ex Le Pep supporters say has become the richest family on Praslin over night. It is being noted they drive in brand new Lexus SUVs and a public servant should not be taking on such opulence, particularly, if you are a cc member of the People's Communist Party. Naturally, her children have defended this new acquisition and others such as yachts, speed boats, etc... But the impact on the rank and file of ordinary Le Pep supporters has been profound. It is rumored that one of her Sons will now bring in a FERRY to compete with William Rose and Joe Albert. Free market you want, free market you get, he says. Recent appointment of Minister Larue to Internal Affairs has not gone down well on Praslin. Residents say, if she failed so badly at Ministry of Health, why is she kept at Internal Affairs? Well, probably to keep James Michel informed of internal developments, watch over the file of the skull at Beau Vallon, keep a eye on Claude Monnaie file , Ryan Lesperance, and my file on the burning of my shed in 2011, amongst others.

Le Pep Forgets Praslin Exist
No sooner then elections were over, the road improvements on Praslin stopped. The Tarmac disappeared, roads were left undone, incomplete, with pot holes over running volume of good roads. The road to Anse La Blague daily is congested and tourist run into the gutter daily, as they try to pass other cars in a one way lane being used by oncoming traffic. The situation is alarming, causing damage to rent a cars, hence costing the country hard currency in parts when it could be avoided.

Since elections, NOT a single minister has turned up to discuss the pending issues of Praslin, which is very unique to Mahe and La Digue. Ministry of Employment held a meeting on the amendments to the Employment Act, the Minister, Eddith Alexander, failed to attend her own schedule meeting. She promised us statistic on Employment and unemployment in January, to be available in May, for Praslin, and now in November, we still have no statistics made available. Alexander has now been transferred to Youth, Sports, Culture. If she promised you uniforms and footballs in 2016, expect delivery in 2020.

Minister of Finance Monopoly Practice
The Ex- Minister of Finance Jean Paul Adam, has been demoted to Ministry of "Hell" Health. After making a mess of the tax system, not replying to e mails, text, phone calls for two years for a simple letter, I could not seriously expect this young man to handle vertical - horizontal Integration in the Tourism Industry.

Minister Adam brought in the World Bank, they filed a Report, he kept it and do not share it with us. Now I suppose, he will wear the AIDS Epidemic  Report under his hat, along with the Heroin Addiction Report. He promised us three legal advisors and legislation to allow SME businesses a fighting chance on Praslin while we face huge Creole and Big Mason's.

Minister Adam spoke a lot, bounced around a lot, but in reality, Adam delivered nothing, except solicit support for his own presidential campaign. If you do not have the decency to write a letter you promised to write, how can we trust you to be a President? In Praslin, action speak louder then words.

The issue of Monopoly practice on PRASLIN was an issue presented to the now President Mr. Danny Faure, in December 2015, because Minister Adam was sleeping on the file.

He promised the community that by January 2016, first order of business in the New Year, he will deal with this issue, for Praslin and the whole country. Until today- Nil By Mouth!

Mr. President, this issue needs urgent attention. As I said to your Ministers before the last election, it will cost Le Pep to sleep on this issue. They seem to have dropped this message in the Vallai De Mai, it never reached your table. Now it will really cost you.

LDS sends people to Praslin every week to eat Le Pep alive! All you can say if you do not get moving fast is.........Bye, Bye, Praslin............for life!

When you lose Praslin, you will lose all! No joke!

SEYCHELLES Embraces National Reconciliation

The National Assembly of SEYCHELLES has approved a motion tabled by Leader of the Opposition W. Ramkalawan to create a Committee on National Reconciliation intended to address past wrongs, victimization, political murders of the past since June 5 , 1977 wherein Seychelles entered the One Party State era.

This era brought with it isolationism, internal strife, educational system was turned upside down, alliances were forged with rouge states such as North Korea, Cuba, Communist Vietnam, and Socialist Tanzania. Catholic primary and secondary schools were closed down, and students were offered only State Education. The private bus operators were nationalized, private immovable property was confiscated or acquired in the name of Socialist Redistribution of wealth.

As the strife build up internally, resistance to an unelected government of France Albert Rene grew. After 48 detainees at Union Vale shanty prison dubbed : " Chateau Vallon" were detained for 14 months without charge, many were then exiled to United Kingdom, where a resistance to the dictator France Albert Rene was built up. Numerous coups were planned, many were the back drop for soliciting funds from foolish benefactors. Key politicians of the time benefited from this over seas. But one coup attempt almost worked. Mike Hoare with his band of Rhodesians and South African ,mercenaries, almost succeeded.

On the home front, France Albert Rene faced down a Military Mutiny, of Seychellois soldiers against Tanzanian occupying officers. He succeeded in quashing them, killing them, those that were not killed, were jailed,The quality of their lives, forever compromised because they opposed Rene. Rene in turn used their presence to demonstrate his might. Look at them, look at those who resist me, look at those who support me. See where they are. The politics of" Ek Nou Pa Ek Nou" was born and took deep roots in SEYCHELLES. En suite, the murders, victimization followed to stamp out resistance.

You Cannot Kill Freedom

Rene try to break the will of his people who opposed him. He failed badly. In 1991, he announced multi party politics for the following year. When he made this announcement, one young party stalwart, fresh off the boat from Cuba said to him:" you tell us to go up the kill, we go. Then you tell us to walk back down and walk in our own shit." Walk in the shit he did, and Rene cunningly invited the resistance overseas, to come back to SEYCHELLES without conditions. As they came back, Rene had new stock of political food to stock for bad times ahead. The economy was flagging. Property values destroyed, hotels in a deplorable state. Seychelles, a Five star destination had a Two star communist product. With the arrival of Freedom loving Seychellois, with their sense of free speech, intellectual know how, the island nation entered a new period of dynamism, which Rene could never have imagined, but he held his fingers on the trigger of AK-47 all along.

Facebook Revolution and Blogs

The suppression of the press, access to media, is a critical component of ruling by FEAR FACTOR. So long as the public does not have information, access to free independent ideas, FEAR FACTOR reigns. With the advent of the Internet, access to information became second nature to the people,of SEYCHELLES. Within a few years, half of the population had become active journalists posting, commenting, editing on Facebook, blogs. A new revolution of information liberty had engulfed the power of the STATE to control access to information, the state had lost control to information dissemination. It was now the people power of information that exposed ideas, murders, victimization, disappearances, and who did what. Fear Factor had been neutralized, the people revolted, sent Le Pep into a minority position in the legislature, while holding on to the Executive Branch by merely a judicial ruling.

Seychelles On Road To Reconciliation

The SEYCHELLES is on the road to reconciliation. It is a welcome move that merit the credit of all sides. What merits demerit, is that it took so long to move in this direction, because two key Le Pep leaders and coup plotters had to be protected: Rene and Michel. Mancham for his part, has been a historical door mat since the advent of multi party democracy.

As word hit the business community of this passing motion, markets were robust and encouraging. Investors were delighted that SEYCHELLES was on the right path.

As markets rocked, murderers and killers had a sleepless week.
Now they will know what it is like to have sleep less nights.

Congratulations to W. Ramkalawan for giving the speech I have been waiting to hear for over 40 years.

Congratulations to Honourable Simon Gill for raising your hand in support of the motion....you have come a long way from those early days at the bottom of that mountain.

Stay focused, do the right thing!

Seselwa Pou Seselwa!

May God Bless All Freedom Loving Seychellios!
