Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange has congratulated JollyPress International for the new initiative of launching the Jolly Maps app for iPhone and iPad, adding that this is a great way of supporting what the Seychelles Tourism Board is doing to market the islands as a destination.
He said this when meeting JollyPress editor Dr Lucia Ciunfrini and the art director Riccardo Roccardi in his office at the Espace building yesterday. Present during the meeting with JollyPress was the chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board Sherin Naiken. The courtesy visit also marks the 25th anniversary of Dr. Ciunfrini’s first visit to Seychelles on January 14, 1990.
To download the App, users should simply select APPLE STORE / Search/ write jollymaps or APPLE STORE / Categories / Travel / select jollymaps. The Jolly Maps app which took two years to prepare was launched in Rome, Italy on December 17, 2014 has maps of Mahe, Praslin, La Digue and places of interest at your fingertips.
Furthermore, visitors can also get access to a wealth of information relating to Seychelles history and excursions such as the marine park. The impressive photo gallery will simply blow your mind away.
Dr Ciunfrini, the brain behind the product has dedicated the past 25 years of her life promoting Seychelles with her maps and glossy, haut de gamme ‘ Elite Seychelles’ and ‘ Elite Travel’ magazines. Her tour guide mini books have been translated into six languages.
During the two years of preparation for the apps, Dr Ciunfrini workedclosely with the Seychelles tourist offices in Europe.
“Just like musical icons need to keep reinventing themselves, to sell and stay current, this app is testimony of how marketing strategies and tools are also being revamped in order to adapt to the digital era,” said Dr Ciunfrini.
The Seychelles Tourism Board supports her bright initiatives which will help further promote us as an enchanting destination.
