Seychelles Tourism In Over Drive!
The Bureau of Statistics has released the First Quarter figures. Arrivals have sky rocketed by 11% in the first quarter up on 2015 which was 19% up on year before and the year before. Receivables by government is 37% up on the past year.

Minister St. Ange is the primary man responsible for leading this blast to growth. He is supported by a high energy, team which does not have " No" in their vocabulary when it concerns issues that concern Tourism. At STB Miss Sherin Naiken has grown into the position and she has matured well at STB, driving Seychelles image in the direct direction.
St. Ange Listen To The Private Sector
While a good part of the PL strategy towards the private sector is predatory in nature, to effect self survival mode, St. Ange's ministry has taken an entirely different approach to the private sector. He looks at the private sector not as businesses to just tax, but he goes to the leaders in trade, business, hotelier, taps into their ideas, knowledge, vision . He adapts these visions, makes it his own and presses forward with change and progress, with that success builds on success.
With his impetus, Seychelles is becoming the economic envy of the Indian Ocean and Africa, not to mention Europe and the Middle East, in spite of the PL government remain stuck in the intellectual doldrums of one party state mentality, " ek nou, pa ek nou". This thinking is prehistoric and PL today, is weakened terribly by the self implanted cancer, that is now destroying it since most of the population pa ek zot! ( not with them).
The Numbers and Potential For Growth Excite Big Players
Big players like Emirates and Etihad , along with Qatar Airways are taking a second look at Seychelles and reassessing their image of the country. They want to add more flights, build hotels, set up DMC companies to run the 1000 visitors a day they bring to Seychelles. On a average stay of over 10 days, our visitors read more like 900,000 arrivals in Mauritius or Maldives. They spend big money on transportation, and these big international players have caught on to the lucrative market in Seychelles left to only two local DMC, Masons and Creole.
As they fight over their first Porche car, and rights over the same, a perfect storm is brewing to cash in on the monopolists at this very minute, who cast aside the little operators, forgetting one important point: we vote!
Share The Cake Or Let Emirates Run Its DMC
DMC in Seychelles are warned: share the cake with Seychellois, spread business in a socially responsible manner. If not, we will advocate and allow Emirates DMC into Seychelles.......along with the hotels, and excursions......just like,you.

Its all looking good for the 2017 and beyond. My advise to all Seselwa in the Tourism trade; we need to grasp these opportunities by providing great services and value for money to our tourist guests. There are opportunities to grow more local fruits and vegetables rather than the rely on imports. The government of the day should encourage Seselwa Racine to get involved in wealth creation rather than leave it to Fabrike and foreigners only. The government of the day should not advocate a policy of 'ek nou' or 'pa ek nou'. The government should advocate a policy of supporting simple Seselwa. This support and assistance should be offered when these simple Seselwa have a solid plan and are hard working and committed.
Minister Alain St. ange has done all he can do.
He cannot grow Seychelles any more with PL playing " Ek Nou PA ek nou" as a economic strategy combined with Predation economics.
PL needs to change its ways or what St? ange has done will back fire!
DMC need to share responsibly the inflow, which they handle- 53%. Failing this, we must now push Turkish airlines, Emirates, Etihad, to set up local DMC transportation business to compete with monopolists Local DMC who think they are " French Canadians"

We miss Rosemary Hoarau as well, but Qater will likely hire her . We will lose an excellent person of great ability.
Mason Travel,Creole travel licensed as DMC or Travel Agency?A trtravelgagencyrornincomi.ng office that organites and/or coordinates touristic services on behalf of the tour operators and looks after their customers.
DMC is a service that provides consultng services,it offers essentially services and products ALREADY AVAILABLE at a particular destination and to which the user has provided no contribution other than thenm use(these functions are pertained by travel agents or tour operators)
DMC normallY should send clients to existing sub_constractors and establishement,,,,,and do not operate oen hotels etc ..
However if mason and creole are operating as,DMC when licensed as travelvagencies it pl failure to regulate,passed,anti trust laws etc

There is defintely confusion in the marketplace when referring to DMC,Travel agency. Let demystify the different.
Travel Agency does the similar work as a DMC,,,but focus on the tourism.side of the market rather than the business side.DMc is a service organization that provides consulting services,plan and coordinate customized incentive programs with its sub constractors according to the clients wishes DMc offers essentially the use of those ingredients,services and products already available at a particular destination and to which the user has provided no contribution other then use..

DMC lack of regulation by the PL is the biggest issue facing the Seychelles economy.
DMC suck the economic honey of the country with impunity.
They are the cause of high interest rates at commercial banks.
They operate money changers, keep money in house roll it and evade commercial banks.
They channel tourists to their own businesses, killing off opportunity for Seselwa Rasin to participate in the economy meaningfully.
They suck our blood every day.
Pl allows this, because they pay PL.
These guys are too greedy that they are unable to cope with demands from clients. Clients are seeking the local blood services so they can feel the warmth of Seychellois in Seychelles. the real us , but the DMC especially Creole are in the dimension of money first, service last. When one talks to the staff you can feel their will to give the maximum to the industry but unfortunately they say "we have no training development to empower us to do better or understand the new trend of the so called modern clients, then they blame the youth of not willing to work or being in the wrong field". It is so damn true that under PL our pocket is before our country. It's obvious guys, listen to your prez when he speaks, it's always about the past years from his last election, which means whatever he does is for the 5 years he has been elected to be in power and after that it is no longer his concern. Open your eyes and see why we have never had good long term strategy under these guys..simple, coz they are concentrating on their pockets during the 5 years the people leave them in power.
The most pathetic and disgraceful point is this: " Le Pep knows about all these issues and they elect, to purposefully proceeds at snails space on them all".
This is the most pathetic situation, consequently, people turn their backs on them, they lose support, in spite of succeeding in many aspects.

Good news for Praslin......We have seen so far not a single cent of World Bank loans since it has been bailing Seychelles,.Pralin has been left behind for too long by pl.
The fact is,we cannot accept the idea that two licensed travel agencies,decide by themselves that they are DMC.Why,?
DMC is nothing else than a NATIONAL tourism Office.
One of the main tasks of the DMC is to create a plaform for the deevelopment of the tourism Demand at the level of NATION as a Destination,while promoting VERTICAL Coorporationis in the outbound markets and domestic tourism Associations in the area of marketing ,develop and promote tourism in order to attract visitors and generate signifcant benefits for a particular region,(that means a country as a destination ,not as a tol for one tourism business to monopolize and control the benefits of tourism for its own.benefit when the benefits should impact al stakeholders in the tourism industry........that is has a National impact).
Roles of DMC includes marketing,development of Tourism projects,services and facilities..etc........In other words ,duties that involve National Responsibilities towards the tourism industry as a whole......thus who says National responsibilities,says also a government responsibility,not an individual,not a single company,unless officially authorized by government etc....
DMC involves in national stragetic planning and development.It works involves liaising with businesses,the publicagencies,commissioning and/or providing tourism strategies and economic impsct studies for implementation,devising and coordinating marketing campaigns,undertaking market research with members of the public and visitors tobparticular attractions,providing a range of information on local resources and facilities,supporting the local,national tourism industry through providing promotional opportunities,running training courses to encourage growth in the tourism networking and economic growth tourism industry.
All the above can only be delivered not by two travel agencies which self~declared themselves DMCs,but only by a National body...........
This actual situation may be reflective of a failure of government level 1)to recognise the characteristics of tourism in that it affects many different areas of society. and as such there is need for integration across many different bodies if tourism marketing management is to be effective and benefit zhe whole tourism industry 2),gaining and maintaining collaboration is in the destination management context is not only challenging but mandatory for a destination to preserve a lead position.
DMC is and must be the voice of the tourism industry.That means liasing wizh agencies etc.. inside zhe country.It is,a key requirement for sustainable tourism development.It should be carryout by government and all stakeholders in partnerdhip.DMC should embrace zhe multi~stakeholders approach.
A private travel agency in competition as such wizh ozher establishment etc..cannot and should not be left to disguise itself as DMC..
A private travel cannot play DMC.,DMCis and must be the voice of zhe tourism industry.Markrting management requires an integrated approach where all relevant parties/stakeholderd,,,,including public,private and local community organisations can meet and agree on a management approach.Involvement and participation of key stakeholders is fundamental aspect of strategic msrketing planning for tourism.A lack of stakeholders coordination may be refleczive of a failure at govt level to recognise the characteristics of tourism in zhat it affects and involve different
aeas of society and as such there is need for integration many different bodies if tourism marketing mansgemrnt is to be effective and benefit zhe whole tourism industry.
The world Bank reports, yes 19% increase in arrivals. But the Yield is - 1.4%.
This is where government and private sector needs to work deligently to change.
The numbers simply do not make sense. There are areas where we are losing revenue as a Nation because we are not maximizing tourism presence in Seychelles. Example- black market 12% . Lack of access to five star hotels for operators 10%. Promotion of tour and trials - 3%. Sharing with other stake holders 10%.

U totally right.And it is the government resposibility to stop monopolies by implementing an Anti~Trust as well as issuing more licenses to do this and that by these companies like Mason and creole travel.
Pl must also ensure that these two travel agencies do not disguise zhemselves as DMC whrn they are licensed and registered as travel agencies.
For a DMC generally or by definition falls into one of the following:1)A Tourism Authrity,or 2)Organisations reponsible for management and marketing of Tourism at a National level..........a body therrfore reponsible for the formation and implementation of NATIONAL POLICY,and executing National Governments reposibilities for the control,direction and thevprolotion of Tourism.It is responsible for coordinating the different activities of all Bodies interests in Tourism Development....
Mason and Creole as private entities cannot and should not be acting as National Tourism Authority in what should be a government duty in the first place.
DMC hiding at SHTA. They use small hotels as a bar avan to hide their agenda of domination of the Industry.
