Air Seychelles has announced it has hired Mr. Freddy Karkaria, as Director of Business Promotions" a new post that seems to have been created for Mr. Karkaria himself.
What the details are of the post no one could confirm at the time we went to put pen to paper.
Freddy Has A Lot Of Experience
It was cited that Mr. Karkaria has a lot of experience in the aviation business and the Tourism Industry. No one will doubt or question that.
Mr. Karkaria worked as CEO at Air Seychelles in the 1990's. A read of past annual reports from that period will give anyone interested, a outlook on how well he did at Air Seychelles.
Mr. Karkaria work for a few years at Creole Travel Services the biggest destination management company in Seychelles. After his illustrious tenure at Creole, he moved on to ply his ability to work company bank accounts at VCS a leading IT company in Seychelles.
In no time, he was running " Select Seychelles " a " very" popular DMC operator that remains on everyone's lips until today.

Mr. Karkaria was Chairman of SHTA on a two year tenure, after he resigned abruptly after he attempted to raise membership fees to astronomical levels. Protest and gripe ensued.

Now at Air Seychelles we expect Roy Kinnair CEO of Air Seychelles, to be expecting Mr. Karkaria to increase business for Air Seychelles, naturally.
All we can say is: " Good Luck Air Seychelles........you will need the. Nation praying for your corporate well being.
We wish Mr. Karkaria all the best, in spite of the unpaid invoices left here and there.
My Son can wait another year for a bicycle.

I suppose Air Seychelles likes being bankrupt. Just cannot shake it off.
The aviation industry has changed a lot since,Kakaria worked for Airseychelles.I guess there are many qualified seychellois who thecqualification and should have been given a change.Let me put this .....way..Kakaria is like a peroson who studied mechanic engineering in the 60s when machanic was still all about MECHANICS,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that is engineer did not have to learn about electronic,computers for engines built at that time ,have no complexe electronics systen,computerized as today.........that means,a person who studied mechnaics in thr 60s cannot fix engine problems of the 21st century,for there are too complexe electronic sytrm that a trained egineer of the 60s has no idea about.............Kakaria for me is a bit thr samething,namely,he does not have the knowledge on modern promotional new tools,tactics,stragety,n knoeledge of the complexity of the aviation world of the 21st century which has changed and evoluated considerably to the time Kakaria wotked for airdeychelles.It is as if u take a person who was trained as a typist in the 60s and u makehim chief of a computer firm which are not the same thing.
Freddy is excellent at typing skills.
He should do just fine.
Roy Kinniar has missed the mark here.
He promoted some pilots who work very hard and honest for Air Seychelles.
Then he hires Freddy who has a track record of under performance and lack of trustworthiness, lack of integrity.
We will watch his every move carefully, because we know what to expect.
I am shocked by the appointment of Freddy Karkaria at our national airline. It is very very suspicious.
Freddy Karkaria while head of Select Seychelles literally collected million on millions of euros from Agents over seas for clients stay in Seychelles.
Freddy Karkaria took the money, never paid the local operators. He schemed to steal all that money with other Board members of Select Seychelles.
The scheme played out over three years in a very systematic manner. This is not a company that ran out of money. It is a company that spent money belonging to Seychelles operators.
I would be shocked as well if Freddy Karkaria could even qualify for vegetable stand at the Victoria Market, let alone run business promotions at Air Seychelles.
Time for Etihad to start finding buyers for its shares at Air Seychelles.
Freddy should not have been appointed in positions in public owed companies,but rather he should be investigated in to the millions of Euros he dubious pocketed when he was at the helm of SELECT,it seems michel way of fighting corruption is by promoting corrupt pl memember to othrr public sector to rob again.
It is time that vacant positions in the public sectors must be open for public bid....that is all vacancy in public companies is made public,in order that,anyone who feels qualified...not only base on rxperience but qualification andcof proven qualities.Freddy has proven himself an unable mancin all the previous positions he has held do far.......i donot understand air seychelled choice and how decisions are taken atcairsey.by airsey ceo or by michelcgovernment,or simply by michel dictation?
On Etihad share......Airdey could go back in codeshare with its privious codeshare airline namely Airfrance........,airsey flies to Paris,and most of its clients are French tourists..a codedhare with Airfrance would Airsey to benefit from Airfrance facilities in Paris,use Air france various european destination and plane services to get european tourists who plan to visit seychelles,fly with airfrance european fleets at affordable price to get to paris to board Airsey. Facilities and services that Etihad cannot provide to Airsey as a non European based,licenced Airline.
Even a codeshare or other types of deal with Condor would be more interesti.g for Airsey zhan zhat with Etihad.For indtance,imagine Condor has an other seat booking on its flight to Seychelles,should it has a deal with Airsey,Condor could have booked the over booked seats automatically to Airsey,if the later still has vacant seats,and vice versa,and since both air lines operate direct flights for our main market Europe,it would be much acceptable forxa client to travel on another airline operating direct connection as aternative than on his originally booked airline,zhan for indtance Etihad zhat would take zhem in Duty free in Dubai after 14 hours flight rathen 9hours,,,,it is a waste of time and monry for a client.
