Seychelles Gets Chaotic!

Our endeared country and people are under the grip of chaos. Each week the plot thickens, the ruling party makes a move, to release the pressure valves. Each week the pressure builds up the chaos gets worse, and sound decision making lacking on key desks, make small problems grow into mega - pressure problems.

Minister of Health Rental Fiasco

The Minister of Health Mitcy Larue went on Extra, Extra to announce that her offices will be moving into a SCR 12 Million per year rental office. Her new offices out did Eddith Alexander's offices at Oliaji Trade Center. There was an uproar in social media. PL was thinking no one is watching. The whole country today, is watching every move. It has been that way for some time. But PL have been late to understand the new dynamics of the power of social media. It is now transparency galore for PL. James Michel in reaction, immediately cancelled the decision by Cabinet order according to a press release. Then came the drugs in the family as NDEA harnessed a group of heroin peddlers which included ONE of Ministers sons. How could the week get more chaotic for the Minister?

Panama Papers Expose Seychelles
A hacker unwind the secrecy of Fonseka Offshore based in  Panama. They have a office in  Seychelles, right next to the USA Consular Offices, at Oliaji Trade Center. No doubt they must be paying the rent on time in these bad times. On CNN it was announced that over 1000 companies had links to  Seychelles and a hoard of money transactions were initiated in Seychelles. Among the client base is Seven persons of interest to the Seychelles General public.
The seams of Seychelles society and her culture of secrecy is coming apart. With it, offshore industry will die over night on this revelation. Offshore facilitators in PL and the opposition alike, will have to run for cover. I hate saying this, but here it goes:" I told you so".

Danny Faure Amends Constitution to Two Terms

The Vice President of Seychelles Danny Faure presented a Bill to National Assembly to amend the Constitution to limit the term of the President to Two terms of Five years. The timing is dubious. Faure limits his own term in future. The amendment precludes the Courts from ordering Michel to stand in a 3 rd round, if the 2 nd round being contested is determined not to be Free, Fair, Credible. It means James Michel will not stand a 3 rd round. He will sit it out. Faure will run.
All in all, it looks as if we will see a early retirement of Mr. Michel. Regardless, no one really ever had an issue with the 3 rd Term. The problem has been the victimization and corruption along with inept ideas in the 1 st and 2 nd term. The problem has been reducing our people to 3 rd class citizens in the 1 st and 2 nd term. This is the problem.

Opposition Name Calling Internal Fighting Over Money

The opposition under Ramkalawan typical after every election is fighting internally, calling each other names, closing Facebook pages, opening new ones, accusing leaders of stealing money ,taking money in the millions for the election and not sharing.

SNP people do not complain that their leaders take money from PL agents or key players. They complain that leaders did not share the money with them.

This is taking the term " Freedom Fighter" to new levels: " Male Whores" in my opinion.

A word of advise: none of you are freedom fighters. Freedom Fighters do not just talk, they act. Prepare yourselves to get serious about dialogue with PL and each other to address the issues facing us as a people. We need a change of mind set to move forward.

We must accept, our leaders have failed us grossly. It is time to wash up the smudges and clean up our act and take politics of our Nation seriously. We cannot do this if we are bickering over who stole what money in the last elections and who took what from whom. Suffice to say, it is a total disgrace.

As Chaos Sets In.......
As the chaos sets in on all sides, remember a few wise words. It is better to forgive then to hold a grudge all your life. The power to forgive allows us all to live for another day as individuals and as a Nation.
Those who breach the trust of the people, simply need to step aside, move on. Get a real job! It is at that time, that you will appreciate the work of Seychelles Chamber, and you will understand fully the gravity of our situation.

When failure has rooted itself deeply, we have in effect condemned the next generation, our children, to facing the reality of toiling in a country worse then when we came. Today, 40% of the population lives in poverty. Today, 39 % of the population goes to sleep at night without a balanced meal. Today, we have over 1,000 men in prison, and remand inmates who have not been convicted, are shot to death while in custody. Our children are failing in education, they leave unprepared for the real world. We have 4000 drug addicts of heroin, which too bad for us is now cheap on the international markets. We import 25% of our labor force, sucking SCR. 1.2 Billion per year in national revenue, for repatriated salaries over seas.

If you all think we are on the right track, then I believe you have all lost your mind.

Sesel Pou Seselwa!

May God Bless All Freedom loving Seychellois!

The chaos bedevilling the opposition party is indicative of the failure to genuinely graps the aspirations of ordinary Seychellois. They are persuing selfish agendas at the expense of the National interests ,and that is why most of their squabbles are triggered by control of donor money...
Donors gave their money to the opposition to sponsor their political activities........what Ram and gang did? They embezzled the money and shared among themselves......Is that not corruption Ram?

Billion of rupees that should otherwise stay in Seychelles economy, leaked out of the country because of pl depency on cheap slaved Expats, while seychellois unemployment as well as poverty sky rocket.Though the devastating consequences created by the dependency on Expats,pl has failed to address the issue seriously and by taking serious steps such as settting qouta, and declaring certain jobs reserved solely to locals among other measures.Pl seems proud to feed indian expats while his people is starving....
Last week, for instance,Head teachers said many kids come to school with empty stomach brcuase the, acute poverty many families are facing........something we use to heard in the news andcin country like Ezhopia.......which we never thougth seychellois will have to face......but pl has made it reality for many Seychellois families.
Pl told us many social ginancial helps have been distributed to unemployed and so forth.....inother wotds,pl has developed a policy of Assistantship(in French Assistanat)whereby young healthy educated seychelois are paid with tax money to stay at home and be unproductive and thereby create a culture of depency on state......what,policy is zhat?citizens must productive pl,not dependent for everything on state assistance........so create opportunity not dependency on State by starting to seriously reducing the amount of Expats.........feed ur people first pl,not foreigners.
Imagine, just this year,39 young Seychellois graduated from maritime shool..and every the number will increase...but where is the job opportunity Pl?Meichel instead of creating opportunies from them, handed them a steal cup as if the livihood depend on a cup.

Fonseka release is,surely making many pl membersclike,Guy,Adam, who we know robbed Seprc money to built fictive companies in Panama...having sleepless nights......he thougth he would have,a peaceful retirement to enjoy his, dtolen bounty...but time is catching on him.

Mitsy, wanted to rent a pl friend, colaborator a building for Sr 12 -million rupees, which exceed the building cost to built the complexe and a over charged rental cost .Corruption mitsy, isn!t it!The,same, among mitsy wanted to gifted a pl friend is pure corruption. But the,Skype made pl reverse course.

Avaricious Ram should go home...he is,a shame. They say the love for money is the root of all evil.......it is disturbing to see how once,a man on God could become the most greedy man of our society and he has no shame.

In Panama Papers case, many countries have already launched investigation to aprehend their nationals involved in money laundering. No Pl govt......though those seychellois involved was leading public sectors like Guy Adam of Sepec.....why pl?

Michel should pause and do a moment of reflection when a gang is apprehended for drugs by NDEA and all of them. Are from families of very high profile PL.
This is the tip of the iceberg.
The whole family is trafficking drugs James Michel. What took you so long to figure it out?

Chamber is doing a good job. hahahaha. Seychelles Chamber of commerce has become one of the most discredited organisations in Seychelles. Not surprised more than half its memebers have quit or are quitting. New Chairman is a PL puppet suggesting private sector should also give 13th Month salary. We are already paying a fortune in taxes. Not all of us can afford to give a 13th salary.

Hahaha-

No doubt chamber has its issues. I will agree 100%.
SHTA has it's issues aswell. 100%.
Minis these two organization, you have no one left to dialogue with the government.
Opposition parties have taken a bipolarized position.
Hence there is no dialogue.
I do not blame half the members of chamber for being frustrated. Many of us are frustrated with PL over stacking Chamber.
But we must believe that sound mind, sound ideas, will prevail in the end.
On 13 th month salary, I have discussed with new Chairman.
He has declared in Cross Sector that we must relook at this, and take sentiments and ideas of entire trade. It is not a fait accompli.
Here sound mind and sound reasoning has prevailed.
In the finality, if everyone in the opposition resigns, boycotts, then there will be no dialogue.
Business will fail, monopolies will prevail.
So far, Chamber has given Praslin a voice, we have Four seats on cross sector, I have invited Captain Grancourt and Ahmed Afif to attend.
One has confirmed, the other has not.
Please refrain from non sense.

Gill those who laugh are losers. Ignore them, they have not a care in the world nor investment.
They don't give. As hit if Seychelles falls apart. They are probably working full time to make sure it does.

There is at the moment disagreement between members of he Chamber of commerce in regards to the new CEO of the chamber, but this does not mean the chamber itself has not achieved many of its stated goals..We must not forget that under a polarized ruling party,it takes longer to get things achieved. For instance, the instution could not played the social dialogue and consensus and to assist the State with policy formation such as the 13 th monthly salary because they were not invited by the govt to pre~debate, find compromises etc.....on this issue...pl rushed and unilaterally implement the law as voters enticing baits to avoid defeat. So,under such a sytem a chamber must constantly struggle to get its voice heard. The chamber has been so far ben able to literally get its voice heard, and because of its role,i would urge pl to listen more to the instution, for it is vital for our socio~economic success.

Listening more to chamber is a good point.
The repercussions of not listening are bad for economy and country bottom line.
Many do not know, it was a chamber member that sued MLUH and secured judgment causing embarrassment to the PL gov. And Lionnet on the Praslin Land Use a plan.
If members must, they will sue again until PL gets the message, dialogue and seek sensible solutions, or we will take it to the next level.

Chamber offers the only serious avenue for dialogue at this time, while political parties are trying to figure out what is next, what approach must they take. Dialogue or Destroy each other.

Why is Lionnet afraid to come to Praslin to meet with us?

Anonymous said...

I guess he does not reality understand his obligations, duty as minister toward the citizens, namely, that he is before most their servant.Lionet thnks liket most pl members, that their positions are personal Asset, permises and they have no obligation to anyone. It might also be that he is afraid to face Praslinois, the later are known to be straightforward and direct, and would tell you what the, thinking without any complex or fearness.....But it might also be has he is concisious of his own incompetency, and facing Praslinois with incompetency ,he would not be,able to handle any debate.........or if all the above are wrong, then loinet should have the guts to explain why he failed to get out of his office, and meet praslinois.

Praslin ,second biggest and populated island and as biggest district, the district administration should give or have more power to decide, deliver on many local issues rather than central government.........For instance land use issues should be one of these power The districts of Praslin should decide upon.................... of course repecting and folllowing nationl laws.........This would simplifies things, reduce bureaucracy, make district mayors directly accountable to his constituent, thus more pressure on them to do welll.Today land onPraslin are sold even to pl friends, collaborators etc.........many of whom live and already possed land on Mahe and has lived and donot even looking to stay one night on Praslin etc........but loinet is giving land plots on Praslin, while Praslinois have been waiting for decades for a plotcof land in their birth place.

That taxes collected from busineses and praslinois ,a big bulk of it should stay i. Praslinois could use for their own public development..............of course for projects approved by Praslinois. One rxample of a project that the praslin distrcts could have taken without waiting or go begging to the central govt.....iis buying machines to get our Beaches clean from seaweeds, and use the collected seaweed for soap production etc..........an idea brought forward by Gill, but stilll depending though badly nrcessary because all decisions are taken by a central govt...............

I meant,...never lived one night on praslin

...butstill pending .

Pl is clueless over how to end the crunch that is improverishing thousands of seychellois.
The best course pl should take is dialogue.Public and Private dialogue is the key to good governance and development. With an increasing number of policy and governance challenges such as inclusive growth, poverty reduction, business integrity ,innovation and so forth, demand private sector active participation in order to generate viable solutions.Public/private Dialogue provides a structured, participatory, and inclusive approach to policy making, directed at reforming government and business climate, esprcially when institutions are underperforming.Governments that listen to the private sectors are more likely to design rational and credible reforms, takes right measures and also win support for their policies.

It is time for pl and the opposition to stop the blame game, and get to work.

Agree to last comment.
Today La Digue and Felicite island are both better developed then Praslin.
Wake up folks!
Pl beware!
Mitcy Larue and Lionnet will cost you two (2) districts in Praslin.
Beware!
Eddith Alexander we can pardon.
But Mitcy and Lionnet who have brought great suffering to Praslin....we will not forgive.
Beware PL!

Last week,in Nations letter to the Editor,a seychellois called on pl govt to“put street lights at Beau Vallon“.It is amazing as dsturbing that in touristic zone around the country....bee it beau vallon,Cote Dor Praslin,la Digue not a single street lamp isto be seen.As cote Dor,in the last decades, many tourists have fallen into uncovered side road drainage and injured, stilll no cover on this roughly 50 meters long uncovered rooad open drainage...that start from loius berbier apartment to Berjaya hotel, somrthing that could be done in a week work and for a few thousand rupees.a
AS to street lights, one can buy on Alibaba powerful Dolar street lamp (130 watts for u$ 60 ,90 watts for u$ 40 piece and that whole sale)but still pl fails to lights these roads.
I guess the only guy who can pressure pl to light our streets in touristic zones is going through Mr Ste Anne, one of the few ministers who really delivers...............else we would have to wait another few decades to get pl get hngs done.

The PL have over 600 street lamps with posts ready for assembly. They were donated by UAE.
PUC Morin says he does not have manpower to deal with it.
He says it is not his priority.
All Morin has to do is bring in 10 Nepalese and subcontract the connection to a Seychellois subcontractor.
To guarantee performance is proper, he has to ask Subcontractor who connects to main, to provide a secured performance bond for the duration of contract.
If work is not satisfactory, retain Performance Bond.
Come Morin, wake up, think out of the box!

We cannot take NO for an answer with bureaucrats!
They must deliver and do what is necessary to deliver.

PS for finance was on SBC explaining new deductions.
He missed the whole point behind deductions.
What he proposed will back fire on Michel.
