State of A Nation Under Presidential Acrimony!

Mr. James Michel, President of Seychelles delivered one of the most bitter and most venomous speeches of his political career this February 2016. Michel used the " State of The Nation" address to attack his political opponents in the opposition who have challenged his election as President of Seychelles. He attacked with respite, the break away team of Pat Pillay whose theme song was a Ras Ricky song called "Pil Lo li" ( step on him, crush him- reference being to James Michel).

Wrong Occasion For Wrong Song

While Mr. Michel wins hands down the vulgarity point of the song, the State of The Nation Address is hardly the right place to raise such a petty issue. It reduces the esteem of the Office of the President.

Michel Lashes Out At Journalists, Opposition, Facebook, Digital Media

Mr. President Michel spared no mercy for the army of digital media journalist that have arisen against his government and his own leadership. The plethora of Facebook pages, and blogs that write about Seychelles politics is un daunting. Our blogs alone have clocked over 1.6 million views over the years, Journalist from BBC, Channel 4, Bloomberg , AFP, Reuters , Nippon Shimbun contact  me regularly for information on issues that concern Seychelles. Today one article on our blog can have 5,000 views over two or three days. That is perhaps more powerful reach then Nation.

Digital media has neutralized James Michel mastery and control of the national propaganda armory he enjoyed under the One Party State. This has enraged his frustrations, producing a venom against his opponents unbecoming of a Head of State.

Example, while Michel was able to prevent me from becoming a shareholder of a Seychelles Today as a condition of State House  licensing the paper in 2010, he has not been able to control the licenses of blogs which have recorded his years as President of Seychelles with undisputed precision.
Today, I am happy to see that others have taken the course of reporting digitally. As I once warned Mr. Michel, to no avail, " because you suppressed Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Expression for so long, today, everyone is a digital reporter".
With that said, there are now too many garages to burn, too many families to threaten, and too many dogs to kill. Mr. Michel has ironically, while insulting the digital media, called on his Ministers to open official Facebook pages to interact with the general public.

One word to Mr. Michel on this- if your ministers slates are not squeaky clean, this will not be so easy to do. Thread softly, it can get embarrassing these digital media strategies if the wrong person is behind them. It is not as easy as you think.

Increases In Pensions and wages By April

Mr. President proposed like a Budget Speech, increases in pensions and other subventions to take effect by April. Clearly, he is preparing for a Third Round Election against Wavel Ramkalawan. I have no special admiration for Ramkalawan, in fact, I have none, but Mr. Michel should not be embarking on populist policies to face down Ramkalawan at the expense of the Public. This will back fire! Why? Because the voter today is not the same voter of 30 years ago.

Today, the Voter does not have any loyalty to an incumbent. They do not feel obliged to support someone over money. Yes they want money. But they want you also to give them a car, a house and a boat with at least 100 horse power Yamaha behind it. Some want a Jet Ski. Either you make these things accessible to them through reasonable means, without hassles, or you give it to them out right for support.

This is the state of mind of the electorate today Mr. President. How did they evolve to this I leave  you to deliberate Mr. President. Suffice to say, you have taken our people now to a point of no return.
The Bible says: " It is better to teach a man how to fish, then to give him fish.when you give him fish you feed him for a day. When you teach him how to fish, you feed him for life. - This is the word of The Lord Jesus a christ. Everybody says- " AMEN"!

Cut MNA Pensions - BOOM!

In a single line, Mr. President decided that it is time to slash MNA Pensions. This means three (3) things: 1. Ramkalawan will lose his personal slush fund which amounts to about what a minister earns every month, 2. all SNP ex MNA's will lose their monthly injection of dosh, 3. All PL MNAs being bounced for non performance as MNA will get nothing, for nothing!

With this move, Mr. President has taken the gloves off, he is in for a dirty fight to the finish, if the Chief Justice and the Constitutional Court orders a THIRD Round Election. So far it looks imminent.

Stick It To Donkey Business Pay 13 th Month Salary

This proposal is heinous in itself and it rounds up Mr. President over veal and aggression in his speech. One would conclude reasonably from the speech, he just does not know anymore where to place his aggression. Mr. President, some business are doing well under your administration they can afford a 13 th month salary.

But others are failing desperately under your management of the country. A 13 th month salary may just bankrupt them. Have you thought of this?

With inflation at 3.3% and GDP at 3.4 %, don't you think that is is hardly the time to increase salaries after reducing a work week from 44 hours to 35 hours?

Part of leadership is being responsible in decisions. Even workers these days know they are being baited for long term imprisonment. What we all want is for a President to side with all Seychellois, not a President who drums up a divide and rule strategy born out of the colonial era with no relevance to Seychelles today.

If Mr. President wants to win a Third Round, he should seriously reconsider his strategy. So far it looks like a roller coaster going back wards and the passengers may just fall off the track head first.
The voters today are more intelligent the ever. Many may not be using their intelligence well, but that is their choice. This generation is all about choice and the right for a Individual to choose. More Freedom and respect for Freedom and Individual citizens rights is the way forward. A level economy, opportunity for all equal must be the focus. When we say Citizens we mean Seychellois, not Fabrikes!
This is your fault line Mr. President , where today, any fraud committing priest can challenge you for your seat.
Lord have mercy on the People of Seychelles as we walk through the " Valley of Death".

Sesel Pou Seselwa!

May God Bless All Freedom Loving Seychellois!

I am shocked by the tone and voice of this State of The nation.
It is appalling.
You mention Valley of death.

King James Version -

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou oh Lord art with me, they rod and thy staff- they comfort me.

Michel takes comfort in his AK-47 .

I commend Mr Michel for the changes. My question is who implemented them in the first place? Sounds to me like his feet is in the fire and now he is dancing 'tingay'. Looks like, the throes of a dying presidency. Now he will give and say whatever he thinks we want to hear. It is a question of too little too late. What I want him to say, is that he will reduce his big fat salary, then I will have a little respect for him......maybe!

Michel has a big clean up job to do.
Health
Education
Lands
When he cleans that up he will see some light.
In the meantime he should respect Mr. Ramkalawans right to appeal to the court .
He should remember also he is primary culprit in making our people materialistic.

It's funny listening to the complaints over ministry of health. Who made Mitcy Larue minister of health? Is it not Mr. Michel? Mr. Michel did not know that this challenge was simply beyond Mrs. Larue ability? Come on, let's talk seriously. How can Mr. Michel expect Mrs. Larue to handle this ministry?
Mr. Michel knows Mrs. larues abilities better then anyone else. He knew all too well that she was out of her depth.
The question should be, knowing her limited ability, why did he make this appointment if he knew it would more likely the. Not, affect the quality of the health service nation wide?
Why would Mr. Michel do that?
This is the question.

Michel started his hopeless State~of~the~Nation address as a wolf gards a sheep clothing. He tried to keep a stiff upper lip as he soliloquized his rehearsed monologue. He tried to give the inpression that he was cool as a cucumber and unshakeable under fire.

As he robotically requrgitated his rehearsed statement ,his hands flailed and his fingers steepled to give the impression of imperturblable self~confidence, steadfast and resolute authority. But his past, demeavours belied his present cool bravado.Within seconds,Michel remarkably lost his pretending cool and displayed his unsparingly tongue~forked raw machismo. With coarseness of a drill sergeant, taunted with polish of a schoolyard bully,he went into spontaneous self~combustion ,frothing at the mouth, vowed he “will crush his opponents with full force“.He lips hemorrhage with insolence, antipathy,as he bombarded other with the sang~froid of a pathetic crook.

He has few wholesome ideas and donot have the intellectual capacity to understand and appreciate new ones. But his mind is supreme diabolical workshops for dusttuctive ideas that create strife, animosity, and arouse suspicion and trust among the people.

Who is,afraid of journalists and bloggers? For Michel ,the pens, and computer keyboards of independent jourlanists and bloggers are more to be feared than AK~47s.He long thought by controlling the flow ofinformation,he could control the hearts, and minds of the people. He believed he could fabricate truth out of falsehood by,contrilling the Media........(the truth will not forever remain on the scaffold, nor wrong remain forever on the throne).

Joutnalists, bloggers slay falsehood with the sword of truth......they chase bad ideas with good ones and, advocate replacing old ideas with good ones. They fight ignorance and powerful ignoranuses with knowledge and reason. They stand up to arrogance and hubris with defiant humility. They seek to transform intolerance with foreberance;resistoppression, intimidation with perseverance and defeat doubts with faith They fight with thier pens and keyboards on the battle ground that is the hearts, and minds of the Seychellois people.Michel fears bloggers and journalists as,the demons who posses victims fear excorcists and holy water.
Machismo makes a man a compulsive bully, who because of an inner fear of looking weak must puke on..everything and snarl, growl and bark at everyone.

The sky(pe) is really falling of Michels head.

Michel failed to give us a State~of~the~nation address, but rather the State~of ~michels~state of mind.He did offer an insight into his thought process.but failed to rise to the ocasion and capture fundamental issues such as..monopoly,poverty,unemployment,crime and so on.long on falimiar rhetorics but short of substance. With an old, tired, man ,seychellois expected the old, tired, recycled story from michel. It was an ostentation public vindication of the ignorable principles“might makes right“.

Is Michel going to same ~sex marriage!!?????
Homosrxual advocates argue that marriage is,a matter of Civil Rights and Human Rights and denying this right to homosexual would therefore be illegal and,a discrimination.
The in fact is,that, marriage in itself is,not even a right. It is a Civil Institution that all societies in history have recognized and used as zhe best way to legitimize, protect, and raise children as well as to solidify familial and political connections.

Mariage has, always been a holy convenant between a man and a woman which is by its, nature ordered toward the procreation and education of children and the unity and wellbeing of the spouse and the perpetuation of human Race.It is not just any relationship of human beings,it is in human nature and thus governed by Natural Law.
Natural law!s most elementary percept is that Good to be done, and wrong to be avoid.Being rooted inhuman nature, natural law,is universal and immutable.Any situation which institutionalizes the circumvention of the purpose of marriagr, violates natural law,and the objective norm of morality.Right eauals Morally goog, justified and acceptable.

Moreover, some argue that same sex couples should be include as a matter of Civil Rights within the Legal definition of marriage are appealing of mariage are principles of Equal Protection and Equal Treatment. But this is,entirely unappropriate for making the, case for same~sex marriage. Why?To argue that the,Constitution guarantees Equal Treatment to Al citizens both men and women, does not say anything, about what constitutes marriage,or a family or a business enterpris,or a friendship. An appeal for Equal Treatment would certainly not lead to a Court to require that a small business enterprise be,caled a Marriage just becuase two business partner prefer to think of their business thar, way.Nor could Equal Treatment of citizend before the law requires a court to conclude that those of us who pray before the start of,a football match should be alowrd to redefine our football club as churches. The simple fact is that the Civil Right of Equal Treatment can not constitute social, reality by Declaration simply to assurre every citizens Equal Treatment under the law depending on what the mateial dispute in law,is,all about.

If someone wants to argue that, two people who, have not in the past been recognized as marriage partners should now be recognizedas marriage partners, one must demonstrate that Marriage Law,not Civil lae ,has, overlooked, misidentified something that it should not have overlooked.

For thousand of years, marriage has concerned itself with a particular kind of enduring bond between a man and a woman that, includes sexual intercourse, the kind of,act that, can(does not always) lead to,woman!s pregnancy.Same~sex can not lead to pregnancy, for same~sex marriage is,a intriusically sterile union.

Is it a Human Right Abuse? No,it is not !A Human Right is defined as “an inalienable Fundamental Right to which a person is inherrntly entitled simply because S/he is,a Human being.“
Some also believe that law restricting the definition of,marriage, are equivalent to Our common law is based on Actions.Race is a characteristi ,not an Action.Homosexuality necessarily is,a Behavior. Thus,it can be legislated against if deemed to be immoral,in the, same way as polygamy, incest, sodomy etc...This on logical, distinction between actions,.and Characteristics is,subtle but paramount. The fact is unmarriage Gays, can, still live together, have, sex,or do,anything else they could do if married, just like, hectero sexual couples. It is a liberty which allows, that a,person to do as s/he pleases but has no right to have his/her liberty respected. It is,a permission without protection and,it correlates with no Rights

However, while i consider same~sex mariage not as a Civil Right but rather a Civil Wrong.I would not oppose that for administrative reaso.s etc...Homosexual may be recognize as a Civil Partnership What,is,the, different between a Marriage and a Civil Partnership?A Civil Partnership is a legal mariage betwwen two, person,of,the, same sex.Although there are differences between a Traditional Martiagr and a Civil Partnersip,a couple who form a Civil Partnership have the same Legal Rights,as a maried couple. This is because it would be prejudicial and, discriminatory if individuals of different sexes could marry and have more legal Rights and protection than two people of the same, sex partner, who lives,al,their lives together, and after a partner for instance passed, away, have no kids, the other partner would have automatic rights onhis/her partner assets..rtc..
After all,Seychrles law does not infairly deny anyone the ability to marry~~~and others like it~~drfines and recognizes marriage as a,union between a man and a woman,it does not, exclude, anyone marrying or living as partners.....The law treats a hecterosexual person the, same, way it treat homosexual person with both prohibited from maryi.g a person,of same sex, just,as adoption of kids by partners of same sex.....for a children needs his bsiological parents caled mama, and papa not papa and papi.

Michel told us he is going to radicate the Druy problem and that by more Repression and Sepiditive justice.
Pl war on Drug has failed. The strategy implemented the past four decades by Pl has not met its goals.Drug use has not declined but increased. On the contary, new dangerous drugs consumption markets have developed.Further, the repressive strategy itself,is focused on the repression of supply has, introduced an element of voilence, theft into illegal drug markets.
Moreover, the illegal nature of the drug trade, added to constant demand for drugs has made it a very lucrative business. This has at least Two Negative ipacts:1)it makes drug trafficking a very appealing option, esprcially for many young people who have no legal employment or earning prospect,in spite of the risks of being arrested and jailed by the repressive govt policies.2)the vast profits obtained by criminal groups give them enormous power to corruption which they use extensively to ensure their activities proceed unhindered.

The inability of the prohibitionism regime to reduce the harm carried by drug consumption to users and their third partied and the voilence asociated with the activities of organized crime focus us to consider new policy, keeping in mind that drug addiction is not a crime therefore use repressive means to stop it,but rather recognise that it is a Chronic Desease that needs to be treated.

In the present context,it is reasonablr to suggest that any strategy to combat drug trafficking should be aim to reduce and monimize harm caused both by Drugs and the Current drug control policies to Users and non~user third parties;substantially shrink the profits that, organized crime and other illegal actions currently obtain from the business and maximize the income that,State would obtain from drugs in a manner consustent with the above aims to finance Prevention and Public Health policies and ilegal crimes. The failure of prohbitionism~~~long dominated by voices that favor repression and punitive policies framed by prohbitionist strategies have definitively failed and obsoleted.

The presnt policy oncdrug has enormous social impact.Drug users are regarded as Criminals and for this reason,go without the necessry Medical Help......

Criminal justice Experts attribute the exploding astronomic prison population to harsher sentencing laws and repressive policies, and the our is in need for a serious shift in overall thinking about how drug addicts should be dealt with and treated.

From Represion To Regulation........the recent shift in Drugs policy in the USA,where several States introduced PROGRESSIVE POLICIES ,open the door to better common approach,(NB the USA had one of the most repressive policies on drug abuse in thecworld). The USA govt after decades of using repression as panacea to dealing with the drug fleoh, had recognise that Repression is no longer compatible with modern times and had little effects on dealing with the problem.Big words and represion should be replaced with measures focusing on limiting health risks.Prevention,Information, care, and Legalization Of Soft Drugs(GRASS,HASHISH) are the areas National Drug pokicy should be concentrating on.
It is impossible to eliminate drugs alzogethrr. And so the question we need to ask is whether the war on Drug with its emphasise on Criminalizing Drug users is effective?History shows itcis not.Legalization of SOFT DRUGS have proven in the USA,Europe,S.America that it is The bestcsolution to......Put illegal dealers out of business, generate milions of Dollars in revenue for Govt......be more effective in identifying health problems that might arise from drug consumption, reduced psychologic problems caused by the use of hard drugs.....etc..etc....
Drug adfiction is an illness,Michel ,not a Crime..so u cannot cure an illness with prison sentence but by Medication,Treatment.....and decrimanilization of the use of Soft Drugd.

Drugs is everyone's problem because it affects all of us .
Who is responsible for it - we need facts.
We need hard facts.
Unsubstantiated accusations will not help the matter.
It is noteworthy to say at the swearing ceremony of Mr. Michel, numerous Commonly known Escobars were in attendance.
Maybe Michel does not know.

We cannot face the drug problem by recklessly resting blame on PL only, when we all know drugs is a cross sector issue implicating all parties asm all cross sections of society.

It is these types of irresponsible statements that destroy the foundations for dialogue which Seychelles needs to move forward as a country and people.

Let us not blame and point fingers. This is easy, it is harder to create the systems, put in place, check and balance them, in order to make sure we get drugs under control and eliminated from our society.

This challenge takes a lot, and requires a national drive cross sector.

Its easy to control drugs. Learn from successful countries like Singapore !

Anonymous said...

No it is not,but there are new approaches that could reduce it drasticaly, and the most effective method which has been proven effective is to decriminalized SOFT DRUGS like Marijuana,Criminalizing marijuana lacks moral justification~~~a real crime implies a victim and perpetrator. Can u image being jailed for robbing urself?, As insane as this sounds, our govt has been doing the equivalent by making adult use of marijuana a crime.Only a depraved corrupt govt could invent a crime u commit against urself.
The glarying truth about pl war on drug,is,a blantly dishonest, extremely expensive, highly destructive, grossly unjust, abject failure of our govt.
singapor,i personality consider a good example ehen it comes to fight drug...... Repression has send drug abusers underground and apperently the singapore govt cannot even tel us how many drug users there are in singapore.
What has been proven by countried like USA,south american countries, and some european countries is that repression donot reduce drug consumption but increase blackmarket, and government lost control on drug dealers.Legalization has also proven to reduce Hard Drug availability, and put both illegal dealers out of business.
It is also preaches by prohibitonists. like pl members that the use of Soft Drugs is the gateway to abuse harder drugs This is rediculous and cannot be supported scientifically.Does coffeine(in coffee, teein in tea leads to cocaine use?obviously not!But what would happen if coffeine was outkawed?Naturally black market would emerge. The absence hypothetical is analogous to the prohibition of marijuana.Therecis intrinsic gateway effect from marijuana.Eg,prior to pl importation of hard drugs, marijuana was the drug common to seychellois, after the importation of Hard Drug, today we still see that marijuana is still the preferable drug for seychellois consumers in regards to hard drugs.Prof, seycelles prison is teemed with grass users.
THAT crime has sky rocket,is due to many factors,,,high unemployment, poverty, and use of hard Drug,......grass smokers reality steal or commit crimes for most of them work or have a proffesional occupation, family, and can control the dose of grass consumption without having the addictive need to consume non stop as is the case of hard Consumers of the hard drug are often the contary to Grass smokers....this is fact around seychelles...most crimes are being committed by harddrug users...because the donotcwork and need money on a daily basis for the hard drug consumption.....N since mostcof them donot work, could not work, thus crimes, theft become an easy way to get money.
When cheapest and softer drug like Grass would have been available,

Given international trends to legalize marijuana, the now deep culture of pot smoking in Seychelles, the amount of young men in jail over marijuana related offenses, the time is now for all politicians to stand up for legalization of marijuana.
GOS needs to implement a program for taxing, authorized production of marijuana.
It is being done in EUROPE, MOST USA STATES.
It represents significant revenue for the tax man
We need to make peace with pot smokers, the. Draw the line, get tough as hell on powder users.
It is powder that is killing our people , not pot.
Additionally, if GOS thinks pot smokers will be a burden from burnt lungs, then offer them the option to opt out of " Free Medical". Make them pay. Tie this up with Insurance companies to cover them, set up health insurance for them.

Pl keeps asking“are we rich or poor?“

One of the problems with discussing Poverty is clarifying what it means and how it can be defined, noting that poverty concept is a multi~facet, and that we understand that poverty does not mean the same thing for every nations around the world

Commonly used measurement are ABSOLUTE or RELATIVE POVERTY.
Absolute or extreme poverty is when people lack the basic necessities(proper housing, healthcare, education, watee, food etc..).Relative poverty is wrere some peoples way of life is so much worse than the general standard of living in the country in which they live a normal life and to participate in ordinary economic, social and cultural activities(persons are said to live in poverty if their income and resources are so inadequate preclude them from having a standard of living considered acceptable in the society) ..You noted,Pl tends to use only the former as measurement not the later .That,is using relative income to measure poverty, which is absoleted in the 2st century.Pl measurement works as follow....that a basket of goods that was worked out by pl government over 49 years ago and while the prices have been tweaked..what is in the basket of goods has not been tweaked at al.It does not incorporate any changes in the economy that have happened since the last 40 years..Such as Internet, cellphone,tv etc...)

So how poor is too poor? How do we decide what,a poor neds to participate in the 21st century+what is the minimum standard of living to which rvery one should be entitled? In the place, and time s/he live.
Hence, alternative approach to defining poverty is to look at DIRECT MEASURES of DEPRIVATION rather than using Income as a proxy for poverty.Looking at Deprivation allows a wide range of aspects of living standards to be include. The CONSENSUAL or Deprivation method develop by TOWEND “Deprivation “approach in Two key respects::1)It use, PUBLIC OPINION to set minimum and secondly it allows for choice of lifestyle. In summary, this aproach sets out to determine acceptable living standards for the society being examined and whi falls below them, because lack of resources rather than than through lifestyle choice.A povery threshold is then identify by relating to income thoseceho lack necessities because they can not afford them rather than choice ,and so defines poverty in terms of both multiple deprivation and income. It is a relative measure for poverty thoug none the less distressing for those experiencing such hardship. The concept of poverty is a multi~facet,so multi~measurement must be used.

Opposition calls for legalization of same~sex marriage and same~sex child
adoption.

On same ~sex marriage........while marriage is not a right but an insitution,i would not opose to a CIVIL UNION for same sex couples..also known as REGISTERED or civil partnerships. Why?Registered partnership will permit same sex couple to declare themselves as each other!s RECIPROCAL BENEFICIARIES which would provides them the equivalent of a spouse!s rights....on for instance, tax, property, assets etc..

OnSame sex child adoption. We heard pro advocates for same sex child adoption arguing it is about equal rights and other rights etc.......However,no one ask what rights have two persons of same sex have to pull away a child from its biological parent,or has not a child as himan beings posses also the fundamental human rights as adults,to choice etc .?what about the psychology of the child to find himself with a papi as mother and a mommy as father?
The fact is those advocating for same sex child adoption is disragarding the fundamental human rights of the child, and are advocating literally for child abuse and human trafficking.... ..reduce children to purely to the level of cattles, objects and a material thing.
Scientific researchers like Kyle Pruett from Yale Child Center psychiatry reports that adoptive children, dito to children concive by in vitro or surrogation often hunger for their biological parent.. that these children often ask their adoptive parents etc....questions like the following;...mum what u did with daddy?where is daddy,he does not love me?can i write him a letter?i would like to meet him?do i have a grandma and grandpa,or uncles etc. ?The distortion and disorders cause by such artificial things as same sex adoption.
Politicians have no rights to impose such an unethical, amoral personal view on society.......any legitimation of such a delicate issue as same sex child adoption would need the consent of the general public,,,and that best via a referendum.

It is not taking on same sex marriage.....for i donot see any problem to have a Civil Union legalization...that not. A church marriage but registered on at civil office, but i opose any attempt to dismantles the structure of Constitutional law that would permit a distruction to be made between heterosexual and homosexual insofar as a formal recognition in traditional marriage is concerned, nor allow same sex child adoption.
We are a christian country even if few go to church, our values remain base of christian teaching. Two parents are axiomatic. Some ereas of life can not be legislated for and be left to individual conscience.

Same sex might be good for same sex activists, but a traumatize for chldren.

To grow up to be a well balanced adult, children need role models of both sexes. In an era when many children are raised by single biological parents~....already wizh proven disadvantages, just inage the psychological damage if a child find himself with a papi as mom or vice versa?
It is abusive to tell a child;we are ur moms“or;“we are ur dads“and then expect the child to feel the lost of such unreplaceable and important icons as his biological parents
When the child will begin to ask“why donot have i a mom,or dad?The abuse will grow for the same sex adoptive parents~~~will likely respond with an answer that protect zhem from crizicism, but disallows the childs recognition of hurt feelings.

Emotional abuse can be as bad as physical abuse.Emotional abuse is particularly difficult because it is invisible and therefore ripe for denial.
What i mean is that even the most heroic mother in the world cannot father. So to intentionally deprive any child of her biological mom and dad, except in cases like divorce for grave reasons or zhe death of a parent,is itself a form of abuse.

Same sex marriage involves consenting adults,Samr sex adoption, however, involves the care, human rights of children.

I have an alternative ,moral, ethical solution to all gays and lesbians who wants kids.......
Namely,,a gay man or couple who wants a kid could make one with a lesbian who also want a kid ....then thecwould not have to resort to adoption which is a child abuse, but produce a kid wizh a biological mom and dad, regardless of sexual orientation ....put ze kid interests first.
Se cannot allow zhe findamental right be abused to satisfy zhe fantasies of same sex couple.......

Michel is obsessed with control. The truth is Michel knows everything ongoing in his government. Not a single minister can make a move without Michel approving. This includes basic daily administrative measures.
To get a letter from a minister can take months and months if not years.
Why?
They must pass review of the letter to Mr. Michel. It takes forever and in the meantime the country grinds down for some and excels for others.
Michel is obsessed with the opposition and his opponents.

He spends hours on hours contemplating how to disrupt their lives, make life difficult for them and enhance opportunities for his own loyalists.

Mr. Michel has loss focus of why SPUP was formed, the party that give him relevance. SPUP was founded on the principle of Sesel Pou Seselwa, a principle that warrants and commands Mr. Michel today as President to treat all Seychellois equally, without discrimination and I'll will. Mr. Michel should be uniting the nation and the people in spite of the divisions created by the last elections.

Mr. Michel is writing the last chapter of his book, if he keeps on victimizing Seychellois he will finish this chapter badly.

Michel is suffering from acute paranoia.Paranoia drives michel to resort to victimaztion shows zhat zhe formal systems of social control do not finction anymore so do the state Institution. His party is undermined by machanisms of control of zhe opposing parties.Victimization is the same tactics used by extremist gruops to maintain power and resist to democratic change. It is to turn innocence into apparent guilt, and citizens into prisoners.
Paranioa and neurotic makes a turbulent man a compulsive bully,a mere mortal and magnificient coward......Michel is fully aware pl is loosing its hold on the country....he knows that he does not pocess supernatural power, and he is not invincible..........to mask his inner paranoia michel castigating his opponents might devert his inner fears to his opponents........a state of mind of cowardly bully..........suffering from low self~esteem .

The military exercises is ridiculous.
On Mahe?
My God, spare us from the wrath of the neurotic.
Any semblance of disruption in Seychelles Maldives and Mauritius will blow it out of proportion and destabilize the Tourism Industry for 25 years.
Michel should. Change his approach, we live apin a very fragile society.
The opposition should change their state of mind. They too are in the wrong path.
Dialogue to bridge the growing gaps between Michel and Opposirion is needed.
Perhaps an agreed retirement of Michel and Ramkalawan both, is a first step.
Then package this with amendments to the Constitution that will allow for coalition governments to be formed.
Then work towards partnering sharing ideas, move the country in a serious and responsible direction, for all Seychellois.
The issues of past disappearances, victimization needs to be short listed. Hand it over to Religious counsel, deliberate, allow them to present their recommendations to a Reconciliation committee made up of all parties, and victims family who do come forward.
The economy we need a economic consul that will address growth and sustainability issues to make recommendations to tweet the aspects of economy that are no lonfger working right for the People. Set priorities, and get it done.
Same can be done for hospital, drugs, crime, etc... Let us solve the problems.
The time to stop hating each other is now.

Totaly agree with u.This so called indo~seycheles military is a disguise act which is aimed at giving iindian control and have political influence on us.It is the same tactics indians use in Nepal,Bhantan, maldives for decades to have control on them and therby rape zhese countries sovereignty......
Unlike Cutlass exercise which seychelles military gain high standard training, and knowledge thus make our force proffessional,Indian exercise is a disguised military exercise aim at making Seychellois get use to Indian military present o. Our soil.

Whrn i for instance, hear Indian bosting about Sprcial forces training ...i laugh for frankly, there is no historical records that show Indian Special forces is one of the best in the world,The fact is,india special forces is known as one of the less capable on Asian continent.......We all remember Mumbai Terror attack on a famous hotel.........it took indian special forces 4 days to come to an end with two tired terrorists........a situation that, would had taken the US Seal, the French Special forces and other highly proffessional european nations a few hours to do.
This indian invasion must stop...........it is an invasion for it is something unilateraly authorized by pl without Seychellois consent...
Soon Tazar would be formed, trained in Renuion by the French.....i support that brcause the French Special Forces is one among the best in the world and Tazar would
gain a lot out of it.French and Seychellois share the same DNA hence Seychellois feel comfortable with them tacitly. We also many other things with the French not with Indian or,Chhina........And the French has no colonial intentions, nor want to rape our sovereignty or modify Seycheles society.....The Indians do.

Yes maybe instead of wasting juges time, and fighting personal political gains Pl and the Opposition should sit together and form a Unity/coalition govt thus put seycheles interests before party and personal ambitions.
To do that Michel should go,dito to Ram.In the ruling party,it is,people like,Faure,Jenpa who have respect among party mrmbers and even those not pl supporters,in the oposition, itcis Pillay,Afif,Amesbury, even Buolle who people follow not Ram........
Ram and Michel should not force their love on seychellois who donot want to love them, they should go,for it seem they are both the bad eggs in thr basket.

What an idea! Gill this is a great one. I have read some of your ideas many good but this 1 a great one. Both sides sit down set stage for Michel retirement and ram. They divided the country and we must live beyond them.faure is a very capable person. Pillay boulle and Amesbury Afif are all very capable. Adam, Marco , st. Ange Morgan Benstrong all capable people. Would it not solve many problems if everyone can sit down discuss and move forward.

Ram will never be able to keep, opposition unity. Pillay needs to stand up be firm lead.
Life in the opposition is not a slush fund. It is hard work and takes sacrifice. But you can walk tall knowing you stand up for principles.
Ram is a sell out as usual

Ram is really selling out as usual.Laterly,he said “2 to 3 memberd above pl in the Assembly we can change many things“as the two to three members more would have the key power to approve or disapprove anything pl brought forward, which is a joke ,which in itself,is a position to sell out.

Ram think partly like Gill and many Seychellois, namely, that Michel should retire........but failed however, that he too should retire for like Michel,he is a negative electron that is affecting the atom for unity. They must go,and they could maybe form the first same sex marriied couple of Seychelles rather than taking thr nation hostage .

Why is compromise on major issues such as forming a Unity govt so hard when no one doubts that it is necrssary?it seems that the resustance in political compromise lies in the drmonstrative political muddluggling, attitude depict by both Ram and Michel, hat makes compromise impossible,,The resistance compromise stands in the way of change that nearly everyone agrees is necessary andtherby biases the political process in favor of the status quo.
This resistance to comprise undermines practices of mutual respect that are essential for a robust demoncratic process. The value of mutual respect is prominent in deliberative theories of demoncracy, where it supports the basic principles that law must be justified by appealing to reasons that should be acceptable to free and equal persons seeking fair terms of cooperation.
Politics must serve the common good, which we understand as the goal, not by attacking each other but by finding common ground.whereby principles are not necessarily the core of compromise.
The search for common ground does not mean surender to principles. It does mean they have to share the telos with each other, some goal for the greater good.To find it,they must communicate with one another with intelligence and Good Will to discover the degree to which common ground exists. It does not mean surrender ones principles. It does not mean seeking vanilla middle for its own sakr,,it may sound counter intruisive, but such techniques as nrgociating, logrolling, horse~trading, and temporizing to fight another day actually preserve ones principles.Zhese are time~honoured ways to get the job done. What erode principles is not compromise but cowardice to act;not negociating;accommodating;,not even tactical retreat, but triumphalist chest~thumbing.Hindsight is wisdom of the cheap. It is always easier than real~time decission making.

Coalition government in my view is critical to the stability of Seychelles. The productive energy of the Nation is being committed to mudslinging and politics of hate daily. Many do not reflect that all this negative energy reflects very poorly on us as a people. It makes investors shy away. Compromise is a sign of great strength, it is not a sign of weakness.
Michel has made some compromises.
1. Canceling of the Ministers and MNA pensions until they are 63. Great move.
2. Reducing term limit from three to two. Great move.
3. 13 month salary- you took Ramkalawans bait, bad move. He will now ask for a 14 th month salary.
The results of the last two elections dictate that we must all adjust our sails and take action in the interest of the people, first and foremost.
Neither side can run the country alone.

Seychellois voters set our politicians the challenge inDecrmbers elections,of forging the first coalition govt in more than ,4 decades. Each party was given 50% ,thus making it impossibly for any single party to rule alone. On can rule alone therefore what seems the logical course should be coalition govt.....failing to do that, seychelles is going to loss 5 years of in actiond, something the country cannot afford to do without facing social, econimic doen falls. It would be unacceptable for seychellois .

In the face of mounting doubts about the pl governments ability to resole the worsening socio economic crisis and so on,dialogue is imperative to move the,Nation forward. It does not help the,Nation for pl and the Opposition to remain locked in an antagonistic and intractable political rhetoric instead of finding a solution.Belligerence would not do anything to help the prospect of unity.

The instability, that is going to plague the country as a result of inaction to find common ground for the common good will be far morr devastating with a lot of unitended condequences.

Seychellois have put national interest at heart by giving both parties a 50% votes each,so that no one single party rule alone, for seychellois think no one single party is apt of ruling the country alone at this point in time, and by their votes ,are tacitly asking them to forge an alliance by putting a partnership.
Let us seize the opportunity to make a historical decision. The citizen of this country are in dire need for a new government which is neither pl nor the Opposition, but a unity govt.Let our nation s political leaders start the process of striking common ground and mapping a way out of uncertainty.

The problems that seem to impede both party from engaging in dialogue is that both party has leaders with big egos and egos often get in the way of,any political compromise which isnrcessary in coalition talks. Both leaders feel bigger than the other to take the initiative acommodate......their egos impede them form doing so,for they feel such a movement would mean weakness ,give up etc......

Since their egos make it difficult for the two party leaders to engage wizh each other.....the coalition talk to be initiated, there is need for honest brokers, who are trusted and respected by at least the majority of the parties. There also has to be a coordinator and a team of neutral personalities,,for instance personalities like religious leaders,Gill,Mancham among others)tocwork with them in promoting and facilitating the negociation. In other words,a team of honest, fair and proffessional brokers...becuase there has to be great organizational capacity to carry the cost and burden of negociating a coalition. This needs crrdible leaders who have the capacity to see the bigger picture and accommodate the different polizical actors.
If neccesary ,zhe two big egos Ram and Michel should go ,not to put stick in the wheel of negociation..........I believe pl personalities like,Faure,Jenpa etc and in the Opposition. ,personalizies like Pillay,Amsbury,Boulle ezc...can form a team made of flexible, moderate, capable persons to lead their party delegation in a national unity govt dialogue guided by a neutral broker team of wise in order to find an equitable, fair political solution for the country......What is now needed to kick start a negociation is thecwillingness of political parties.

Marie antoinette says,,,,giving up her pension is a sacrifice...........It is privilege pl gave themselves and was anti constitutional, for there is no mention of pension for ministers and mps in the consitution.
