The National Assembly election results last week sent the LDS opposition to the jackpot line, securing 15 seats plus 4 proportional seats. PL ruling party scraped by with 10 elected seats, and 4 proportional seats. It could have been much worse for PL, as results showed they scraped by barely in numerous districts.
A Victory For Seychelles
The elections were monitored by international observers. Voters cast their votes openly, and without harassment. Bill boards and posters were generally respected throughout the country, an indication of great maturity, wherein the USA Democrats are ripping apart Trump posters and burning them. Bravo Seychelles, overall, it was a splendid election for all sides, all sides can be proud to have done the right thing.
President Michel Hits Right Note
As the election results were read out and each party had their say, it was President Michel that sealed the envelope for stability and credibility of the Nation, making an announcement that Seychelles has come of age. The former coup plotter and colonel of the one party state,some say he was a jet fighter pilot, though we have never had any F-16 came on the podium and gracefully accepted defeat saying these key words: " The Will of the People is Supreme".

Indeed Mr. Michel is 100%. It is this acceptance, that has entrenched Seychelles into the club of true Democracies around the world. For this all Seychelles can be proud, and Mr. Michel has set a resounding example of the way for word.
Impact of Acceptance of Will of The People
Immediately, websites on Seychelles real estate and houses surged. Phones began to ring the next day for people looking for land and houses to buy in Seychelles. Real estate prices and sales had previously gone stale in long drawn out election over 1 year. After the results, the following Monday, numerous notaries were being given orders to prepare documents for house sales on Mahe and Praslin, now recognized as " The Most Beautiful Island In The World".
The Time To invest in Seychelles is Now!
The writing is sticker along the fine sands of Seychelles: " the time to invest in Seychelles is Now!"
The PL and the LDS will take the right steps to insure the interest of the people is safeguarded, and a culture of dialogue, negotiation is cultivated in the spirit of : " Sesel Pou Seselwa".

Agree with you however people need to wait a little,don't rush to the conclusion that all are OK.We are watching the magical wand until the new session starts.Hope all new and the old members will start on a good note.Just wander what will the meeting on Gordon Square will be about this Sunday?
Democracy has taken a significant step forward.
Now dialogue and the art of negotiations will have to crawl, walk, then run.
It is not in the political culture of Seychellles. However, today, it is now critical.

It seems there is a significant attitudinal shift among the pl but also general public that this election represent a change in the way politics is done in our country.This is a hopeful sign and very encouraging to move forward.But the proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say.Let us use this election as the impetus for the development of a comprehensive poltical ,economic,social and legal agenda for Seychelles that is based on compeling vision for a better future for this and coming generations.Let us cast off the forsightedness and narrow partisanship of the past,and work together for a better Seychelles..The time is now.

Why I stated we need to wait and see?
It remind me of Iraq when they got liberated the first day- the world were celebrating and giving BUSHY a pat on the back-little that we know what will follow next-Seychelles is small hope they don't follow the same political rout.
When you look at all the members of the new Assembly what you notice is there are more members from the ex-SPUP/SPPF/PL camp. And they are the same one who were calling the kettle black! Can someone disagree with me?
Let us hope that we will forget the past 40 years and move on to a new direction.
Even though LDS won the assembly the popular vote is about even. Now, to the oldies like me, do you still remember in the early 70's when DP won all the seats except two went to Abert Rene and Guy Sinon of Cascade district. Guest what happened then? Yes, popular vote went sharply to the DP. Rene of SPUP stated that EC should realigned the district and they did. Now after 50 years it came back to hunt them. Will they say again to Happy Gappy divide the district ?

I personally believe the PL line up is a simple knee jerk reaction to the results.
It is not a deep thought put choice.
Unless Simon Gill can take a snooze pill, he will castigate the opposition, keep Ramkalawan in check (they are close friends) and steer disruption.
LDS will be challenged. It needs to bear in mind it is the majority and adopt a posture that will move the country forward irrespective of castigation.
It will take some time for PL to adjust to being a minority party with no power aside from executive authority. They will initially be in denial, the. Resort to being defensive, then as Budget looms, they will slowly come to a compromising approach.
There categorical failure has been misuse of digital media, and lack of appreciation of its impact.
At the run up to elections this blog along has had 2000-3000 views a day.
PL will have to grow up fast in democratic spirit.

I read on a lcoal newspaper ,that TOURISTSare searching for BUDGET DEALS ......well this shows that many toursits want to visit Seychelles but could not afford ..especially bringing high season ...........It also shows that there is a potential to attract much more toursits .
So .i prossed that the minsitry of tourism dvelop ..OFF SEASONS TOURism ---------OFF SEASON toursim would by aimed at attracting exactly the kind of low budget tourists bring low season (which is in fact the best time ..in regard of weather ,sun shine etc )....Off season torusim would be these kinds of toursits finding low deal ...but also elderly persons ...the altter has proven to be the kind of travelers who often travel at low season in order to beenefit from affrodable price etc....
OFF SEASON tourism ..would allow hotels ,guest house ,but our toursim industry to extent their seasons ...thus genrating more money ,hence good for our economy -------Developing off seaso torusim would also allow us to provide a sustainble tourism industry ,,whereby ,,,the country would not be over populated by tourisrts onyl dsuring high seasons .....nad also help reduce the building of voer number of hotels ...while exisiting hotels are already struggling to stay alive .........More hotels means mass otursim ..and who says amss toursim also says ,,a lost in quality ,,,unicity ,,,,,and all the other effects on ecology ,waters ,eletrcity ,wastage ,,,,,etc.......
