Seychelles Anse Lazio Public Hearing on Future

The Seychelles Planning Authority, headed by Chairman Hughes Adam, CEO Joseph Francois, Master of Officiate Patrick Nancy, held a meeting with the landowners of Anse Lazio and the Public of Praslin, to deliberate the future of Anse Lazio, " Most Beautiful Beach in The World", the last diamond, in the Crown Jewels of the Seychelles, as hotelier and Chairman Emeritus SHTA, Louis Doffay underlined for all present.

Talma Case Shakes Status Quo

The meeting was held as soon as practicable after the landmark property rights case of Talma et al, was rendered judgment by the Supreme Court, in a judgment written by Chief Justice Mathilda Twomey, which is quite possibly the best judgment she has ever written. The government of Seychelles rightfully decided NOT to appeal the judgment, and accepted the rulings as new " case law", reaffirming, strengthening property rights enshrined in the Seychelles Constitution, promulgated in 1993.

Since the Judgment, the Minister of Lands Christian Lionnet has been removed as Minister, Planning CEO, Gerard Hoarau has been sacked, replaced with amenable personality.

Article 26 Right To Property
Seychelles property rights are very strong, and protect the individuals rights rights of ownership, use, enjoyment. At no point in Seychelles history have property rights been so clear, strong and coherent.

Article 27 Right of Equal Protection
This section of the Constitution protects against discrimination of the state against the individual. It is designed after the Equal Protection Clause of the 14 th amendment of the USA Constitution, intended to stamp out discriminatory practice, arising from political nature, which has been prevalent in Seychelles past.

Have Your Say
The Planning Authority will meet with the landowners to have their say on the future of Anse Lazio. The Public is encouraged to also contribute their ideas and opinions on this important subject. In the end, it is aspired by all stakeholders, including a aspiring rasta fruit salesman that a balanced solution to a complex issue will be resolved in the near future.

Anse Lazio is the diamond of Seychelles ....so the best way to ensure that it is not spoil and remain the diamond that it is ....would be beneficial to all...It seems all stakerholders hold the same position on the importance of Anse Lazio and that in itself gives Seychellois assurance on the future of Anse Lazio.
WE SHOULD NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OTHER COUNTRIES MADE ...SUCH AS THAILAND DID IN PUnKET ISLAND once the perle of tHAIALND AND brand,TODAY BECAUSE OF MASS CONTRUCTION AND DESTRUCTION HAS BECOME A ISLAND LIKE ANY OTHERS WITHOUT A REPUTATION .

Anse Lazio IS A BRAND.....thus we must make sure we do not, do anything that destroy this Brand. For when you kill a Brand ,you also kill the customers.

If it is a diamond and a brand belonging to Seychelles, that is fine.
Having said that, we should allow the owners time to tell us what they want to do with their land and from there, we can see how the public interest can be accommodated.
Government must also consider, these owners, aside from R. Verlaque has suffered tremendously, I mean tremendously over the years. This said, it needs to consider as well what it can do for these decent Seychellois.

Anise lazily can take 1000 rooms. The type of tourist we get these days will love it.

There should be no laissez faire at Anse lazio ...Mass tourism desvolepment has made a slump of PHI PHI,Punket island is Thailand ,once a jewelry of Thailand ,,Dito to Bali ,,and putting their beauty under threat..........
If we donot think wisely on how we develop Anse lazio ,this idyllic spot will become a thing of the past....changing beyond recognition and a prey to accumulated effect of mass tourism ,unbridled consumption of resources and environmental collapse.
We must keep in mind when palnning that it is not how beautiful ,how many ,how big five star hotels are that attract Tourists to our shores but Its CUlture, landscpae ,nautrla beuty, our people culture, natue ,environemnt .......so just not think about developemnt for when the asset is destroy namely the environemnt, nature, natural beauty are destroy all would collapse with it....

10:55
There are already hotels on Anse Lazio. They are black market and do not pay tax.
There is 3 restaurants already.
There is a 20 foot steel container at the entrance of the beach. Steel towers painted red. Bins falling daily with stray dogs digging in them.
20/30 catamarans dump food their daily and trash. That is pollution as well. Raw sewage is falling into the marsh.
A organized project is more sensible. Owners have the right.
If you do not want the owners to develop their land pay them to leave as it is.

Seems it is becoming a National concern ,hence government can simply pay or buy their land and make it public properties........

Government cannot afford to pay Fair Market Value for the land.
They will have to steal it.

11:02.... PL can take over land and building in their own 'clever' way. I am now following a case whereby the Govt of Seychelles acquired what was the SPUP Office from the Hassanali/Umarji family. The same Govt of Seychelles sold this Property/Building to SPPF in 1996 and Danny Faure represented the buyer. Now the Umarjis are trying to get back what has become SPUP/PL Museum ! These people are just too good at conning Seselwa.

Well I firmly believe there is s plan to steal the land and develop it with a major player.
Le Pep is use to doing that. Here are some examples if the owners of Anse Lazio forget-

St. Anne Island
Petit Anse
Intendance
Felicite island
Beau Vallon ex Khashoogi
Fishermans Cove
Barbarrons hotel
Alphonse island
Desroches island
Pouvre island

Baie Lazare ..Kempski hotel ,Desroche,,, a I guess Even Aldabra torusits are secretly allow to disembark though it should be an untouched and protected reserve.......An attempt was stop in Cape Ternay ...but not also beaches are also illegally made private ...like when you look at google map you can see that a part of the beach is indicated the words "Public beaches "as if where kmepski is is Private....Dito to Anse georgette Praslin ...all is a result of Pl crookedness and corruption ..time to stop their crooks .....

It is really tiem to deal with pl seriously and firmly ..Where is LDS .....?

Why does RAm fialed to raise these concern ,,,is he maybe part or beneficer of it?

Anonymous said...

We would not allow pl to continue rape rule of law and property rights and depose seychellois from their land....

It's like the American Indians.......the land did not go with them......though it belong to them.

I have been told each land owner of Anse Lazio will be offered a LEXUS plus some sort of fast boat with 300 horsepower engines .

I noted that pl and Khalfia want to have Khalfia names on all buildings he sponsor just like it is common pratice in the Arab world .........There are many other countires which provide infrastructure helps or other helps to Seychelles ,none ask us or force us to name buildings in their names ---Khalsheik Khalfia this and there ,everyewhere around the country as if we are in Suadi Aradia ..whereby you see all buildins named as Kigns ,or have their poster hang on all buildins etc -----Calling on LDS to bring up a motion that wil stop this POLUTION and stop hanging on foerigenrs names on our buildings just like once an Indain constructure wanted ..........if it is a tradtion in arab countries to have their kings name on all buildings this must stop I nseychelels ,,it is not aprt of our traditions to worship foreigners or else...
Hosptial named Ksheik Khalfi ,,Coast guard Base Sheik Khalfia ,,the new Airport would apparently be nmead Khalfia too ....we are not arab pol ..and we refuse these kinds of shi taking palce in our society .

Anonymous said...

Too many Shiek Khalfia name on our buildings ......if we donot stop pl ,,soon we will even have streets, schools.etc with arab names on them.........Or as Mancham suggest ,,raise UAE falg high on our land as if we a colony of UAE.....

The point is valid.
While Seychelles is incumbent to welcome UAE investments at this time, given the disasterous performance of PL, we really have no choice and must encourage FDI by as much as 25 percent of the national budget to keep the country going.
UAE is flush in cash reserves. They should be encouraged to invest.
The naming of " Public Buildings and infrastructure" must be left to the people.
A balance and reasonable understanding by UAE to respect our cultural and historical norms would be in order.
We are not about to stop eating gratin or boudin for any one.
