Seychelles Chamber of Commerce Praslin Chaired by Mr. Christopher Gill received Sybills Cardon Chairperson of SHTA today at Iles Des Palmes Eco resort.
The meet was Frank and to the point.
Miss Cardon ask that Mr. Gill refrain fro writing articles on Vijay Patel,placing his name on National Monuments, Signs, and national assets. On this issue, Mr. Gill said he will not refrain from writing on this issue as it is a issue dear to any Real Seychellois. Vijay has no business placing his name on national monuments and national buildings as if these historical and cultural assets are tantamount to one of his 20 ton trucks.
Miss Cardon ask Mr. Gill to refrain from writing about Select Seychelles and SHTA ex Chairman Freddy Karkaria.
Mr. Gill advise Miss Cardon this matter of public interest, and of interest to members of the Tourism trade, hence a subject of interest. Because Millions are owed to partners, the matter must be treated openly and in a transparent manner, unlike the policy SHTA adopted, leaving its members in the cold with Select Seychelles,knowingly.
On the issue of supporting the SHTA and it's aboard, when presented with this request, Mr. Gill said: " given the turmoil at SHTA, an election should takes place at the soonest time possible and a new board, made up of new members be elected. Failing that the association should consider dissolving.
The SCCI welcomes new members who feel STHA no longer represent their interests effectively.
SCCI has initiated numerous initiatives that are improving the partnership with government but above all. Making the Tourism industry buoyant and successful for its stake holders.
SCCI Praslin thanks all partners for its unwavering support in its effort to deliver results.

Miss Gardon reponds is not only shocking but unrxplicable. Fredom of speech and expressing one point of views is a legitimate right Chris has any other citizens...it i s a humsn right and a constitutionsl each citizen has.I am shocked by Miss Gardon dictation and arrogance ,.....Telling someone chairing an important orgsnization “ u Must stop writting on this and that,“,,,give them the rxpression that Gardon has bern contaminated by the hubris o fcpl......It is a dhame to hear such auzhoritarian dictations coming from someone born,grew and educated in a civilized democratic country like Belgium.......it shows ,that weak souls,regardless of origine can easily becmanipulated.

I was also advise if I do not want to help Miss Cardon at SHTA to remain silent,and I as told several times I did not pay my fee this year therefore I am not a MEMBER.

The last AGM had barely 25 people in it.
That was before Freddy Karkaria and Seychelles Select dealt SHTA a diabolical blow. That was before the increase in membership.
That was in the era when SHTA under Llouis Doffay was highly effective and faced serious battles with a sense of patriotism and loyalty to small members.
Today, SCCI does that for us.
I guess I am not a member of SHTA, I wonder if Miss Cardon knows what impact that will have on her membership.
I also told her that SHTA has been completely ineffective over the last year, relying in the hard work of SCCI to deliver goods to her membership.
Example: 1. Reduction in air fare prices Mahe Praslin, 2. Removal of VAT on inter island ferry cargo, 3. Exposure of monopoly in tourism industry, 4. Exposure of cultural terrorism by vijay Patel on Praslin ( he wants to name everything on Praslin Vijay, 5. SCCI access to Trade Fairs, 6. SCCI equal treatment on all Tourism matters, SCCI member John Stravens Chairs SEychelles Tourism academy now, Marco Francis our Chairman does an excellent job to bring in expos ,conferences, to keep rooms full on Mahe, we are doing our best to partner with government as a trade body to remove hurdles that hinder Praslin and La Digue.

Team work and listening to business persons is key to move forward,be effective and competent,not by hubris and dictations.Mme,slavery and buorgoisie has long been radicated in Africa ,we will not allow,u to reintroduce it in seychelles in the 21st century..karkaria is a thief and nust be made accountable for his theft.
It seems to me that Ms Gardon arrogance is due her lack of knowledge of tuorism industry..Running a barbecue stand and a hotel is not the same thing Ms Gardon.
The s mission is serve the and facilitate the full potential of the tourism industry...and to do that SHTC board members must,firtlx,have knowledge of how the hotel and tourism industry work(for instance,Mr Doffay was successful because of his experience in the industry)...,if you donot have these rxperience,you end up in failure like SHTC is today........SHTC under the actual board members has failed.......it is.more an asssociation use by its.members as treasury to enrich themself..like kaksria hasbprovrn..and the sad fact,that none of its other mrmbers like u Ms Gardon,hsve your muoth zipped on Kakaria theft,makes u a complice...u arrogance,unpoliteness,autoritarian words shows thatvu not the right person to serve on SHTC board.....politeness,honesty,respect,listening and so forth are high ehrn one work for the hospitality industry.........if you donot hsve what it takes Ms Gardon to serve the SHTC......there is no need to hide or disgise ur incompetency and lack of knowledge by trying to dhutbup others with ur forked tongue...

Speaking to Christopher Gill like he is your gardener will lead you into trouble.
The focus should be on what are the issues affecting the trade such as high cost of doing business, lack of competitive edge of Seychelles as a destination. Today we compete with many destinations in the region, and the World with a comparable product for less cost to the Traveler.
VAT at 15 percent is much too high for a Tourist based economy.
GOP fees reduce liquidity of operators,
Lack of available employment job seekers is a big problem.
High interest rates at commercial banks is a big issue for the Trade.
The cohesion of the Central Bank governor with the Commercial banks hurts business climate in Seychelles.
High Interest on Treasury Bills is a disadvantage to the hotel industry.
Un coordinated flight plans and lack of seats in Peak periods remains a challenge.
The unfettered monolistic practice of Masons Travel and Creole Travel remains a challenge that must be dealt with with privatate sector and the same companies, along with government of Seychellles in true partnership to seek win win win resolutions.
These are complex issues.
They are issues Christopher Gill along with Chairman Marco Francis have been dealing with all year.
Inclusive are the results of what they have achieved: 1. Reduction in air fares, 2. No Vat on Interisland cargo, 3. GOP fast track for Hotels 4. Cross sector was initiated by SCCI and has prove to be a great success. 5 acceptance of beach cleaning machine for Praslin to allow us to resolve beach filth issue that hurts our marketing portfolio.5. Clean up campaign on curriesse Island 6. Cover for passengers at the ferry terminal. 7. Access of small business into tourism portfolio Indistry. 8. Regular meetings on Praslin by Ministers, government 9. Lower crime on Praslin 10. Demand that dead beat DMC 's pay their bills to hard working operators.

Sureiy,if she search for trouble,she would have it double....SHTC has been sailing without a capable captain.....it has set sail on a course leading to nowhere.
I would advise Gardon and her clics to take a leaf from SCCIs book.......take advice from chairman and other members of SCCI.....
SHTC has failed badly,on dealing on important issues affecting the Tourism industries.......Some have been effectively solved by SCCI.......others are being dealt with by SCCI such as High ferry price amongst others..
SHTC and Gardon should not be complaining about Chris speaking truth to SHTC,.....SHTC should consult him for advice......
There are too many long existing problems affected the industry which should havevlong been solved by SHTC....its lacks of willing,incompetency of its members,their laziness,con~active attitude of its members had worsen things.

Tons of fishes have bern tocicated..and pl said itvis still searching for causes....well pl,the cause not causes is a result of the tocic chrmical being used to eliminate non endemic starfish........coral fishes arr vctims of this chemical pl........the chemicals use while kill starfidhes,also kills coral fishes pl....
Come clear pl...seychrlles seas are clean,puer and not poluated.....the only cause is due the starfish chemical killer pl.
Take samplescfrom these dead coral fish pl,u will find the chemical in them......that is now the cause can be find .by bringing dead fishes to a laboratory .......
I think SHTC role should handed over to SCCI under one umbrella......there is no need to have an organitation membered by thieves such a SHTC..and since it can not deliver,,there is no need that it exist.
Indeed I too feel strongly ShTC needs to wind down.
The organization delivers nothing but special interests of DMC and they use small operators as a cover up for their agenda. In the process large hotels get fleeced and operators get fleeced.
Karkaria and Select was just the starting point. It gets much deeper.
They are now in the Minister of Tourism Office.
How will they oppose a bad decision of Ministry of Tourism?
If they voice against Miniter of Tourism they will be ask to vacate premise.
SHTA is a purely DMC support organization. They use small hotels, use, charter operators, to mask the real agenda of promoting what is purely a DMC agenda to control the Tourism Industry like a chain around the nations economic foot.
This is the fact.
Now PL what are you going to do about it?
I trust Christopher Gill. He helped us reduce crime on Praslin la Digue Mahe for many years. He demonstrated sound leadership and functions in a pragmatic manner. As a highly educated person, perhaps more then any one he is solid as a rock.
He is frank to the point does not waste time and thanks to him Praslin now has hopes of a renaissance in tourism.
As a member of SCCI with Mr. Gill as Chairman and Marco Francis support for us we have seen - 1 agreement of MOE to allow trade to import beach cleaner, 2. Program to clean beaches put in place, 3. Praslin culinary contest,/ festival, 4. SCCI getting access to STB Trade Fairs, 5. Reduction in price of airline tickets, 6. Call on lowering of ferry tickets, 7 exposure of monopoly practice which SHTA defends 8. Safety met for small hotels at SCCI as SHTA abandons small hotels in interest of protecting DMC that compete with us 9. Clean up of curiesse island 10. Roofing of jetty to protect passengers.
