Tourism Ministry saddened by the loss of local hotelier Frank Payet

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture has said that the country has lost a great local hotelier as he wrote to the Payet Family on the passing of Mr Frank Robert Payet.

It was his wife Elodia who started a small guest House known as Rose Cottage at Pointe au Sel on Mahe which she ran together with her husband Frank for 10 years before deciding to move to Praslin and started Le Duc de Praslin at Cote D'Or. Today this dream by Mr & Mrs Frank Payet is reputed to rank amongst the best Tourism establishment in Seychelles.

Frank was known to be a hardworking Man. A man who was meticulous in whatever he did. He kept every piece of paper and wrote down everything you can think of. He was born 07th June 1931 and is the son of Mark Payet and Edna Payet Nee Obrien. He was born on Mahe and grew up at Pointe au Sel.  Frank went to school at Seychelles College but left for Kenya at the early age of 17.

He always said that he did this because he wanted to go and get a saving to come back and work in Seychelles. He worked in the Police Force, hence his discipline and principle as a gentleman
He met his wife Elodia in Seychelles and they went back to Kenya in 1966 to get married.

They decided to come back to Seychelles in 1969 and Frank worked for P.W.U.D at that time for a couple of years. He then started  his small farming business where he supplied a good quality chicken and eggs on the island as well as other livestock.

Is was as a pastime for his wife he started  to rent rooms in their small guest House that became known as Rose Cottage at Pointe au Sel which they ran for 10 years before launching their Praslin small hotel the 'Le Duc de Praslin'.  Frank was a kind person always willing to help others and played an active part in the Small Hotels and Guesthouse Association.

Frank leaves behind his wife Elodia, son Robert and daughter in law Lisa and grandchildren Russell and Reece.
