Seychelles Local Observers With- hold Approval of Presidential Elections

The Powerful NGO " Citizens Democracy Watch" which monitors elections locally in Seychelles has declared that it will defer its decision on the Seychelles Presidential Elections 2015 Second Round, which is being contested legally by SNP candidate Wavel Ramkalawan, and claimed by Mr. James Michel as the victor by a hair margin.

James Michel polled 50.13 % and Ramkalawan polled 49.78 percent, making the election the closet election ever contested in Africa.

CDW fielded over 75 election observers in the last election. Having local knowledge, and local contacts, proved invaluable to insuring that the democratic process was respected as much as possible. International Observers such as the Commonwealth Observers, and SADC Observers cooperated with the CDW to keep the lid tight on the elections.

Mr. Ramkalawan along with " Union For Change" an election pact with Kingmaker, Patrick Pillay and the enforcer Alexia Amesbury, have united with Mr. Ramkalawan's SNP to challenge the election results. The losing candidate gave a scorching speech on the heels of the results being announced, citing that " there will be problems in Seychelles". and insisting " the elections had been stolen".

The island nation state population is sitting on pins and needles to hear from the Constitutional  court of Appeals and the Supreme Court on three (3) Petitions filed, one asking the Courts to grant a 3 rd Ballot after the dubious 2 nd Round.

Another sign of disapproval of michel none victory. The logic, accepted solution must be a third round or new election. We cannot allow an unelected old guy.like Michel takes seychellois as casts.

The local observers have noted MANY irregularities and clear infringements on the election law and code of conduct! This INVALIDATES the past election and a new election has to take place. After having spent MILLIONS in the last two elections PL and Michel are desperate for that not to happen, however, their desperate actions in especially the second round is going to prove to be the noose around their necks!

Usually it is not enough to prove " some irregularities" took place. There must be fraud established, and the fraud must have been the direct cause of the results. But for the Fraud, the results would have been different.

Focus on this. This should get you the 3 rd Balllot.

To just site a fee ID card purchases under 182 will not do it.

Case law is well established on this.

The lack of 50 % as required by constitution is a solid issue.
Gappy really has his balls in a vice.

Anonymous said...

I could imagine, zhat before Gappy made public the results ,he onformed Michel, and the later asked him to declared him victor. When one look how fast Michel when on SBC to proclaim victory, the time between Gappy public announcement and Michel proclamation was only minutes away.Cannot be that Michelprepared his speech in such a small frame time,he must has known the results much early.

Happy new year to all.The fight continues next year wizh more force.

Heard Gappy is in hospital since yesterday. Anyone can confirm?

Gappy is insignificant. We should not give him the respect and time. We the people of Seychelles pays his fat salary. We the people of Seychelles demands his resignation. If he fails to resign, we shall sack him. We need a fresh, new, fair & impartial EC.

Anonymous said...

U remember Gappy and hs gang removing thuosands of names on the voters register list before election, and that before anyone knew and asked him to do so.Consious that the opposition would find out anyway,Gappy did it alone. This was a good example of gappysdirect, consciius, premeditated participation in helping pl to rob elections,.Still he did not hesistate to play his fools game to the end by announcing michel winner.

Happy is a snake in the grass. Did u see when he announced the wrong result in the first round ! He consiously misled the media houses by announcing David Pierre winning more votes than Boulle & Alexia, when in fact Gappy only got 400 votes. I am led to believe if JAM regrets not stuffing the ballot boxes in favour of Pierre in the first round. We need a new independent EC. Viral will do a far better job than this entire EC team.

Opposition should also pressure this indian Gop worker called Fernando. This guy was imported from india as Gop worker in 2009.in 2011,two years after his arrival,pl illegally gifted him.our passport(2011),though he is not married to a seychellois nor has parentage wizh any seychellois family.
And as judge he should know that he is not entilted to seychelles nationailty as Gop worker, but on a work contract here and pay for hie service and need to leave zhe country after his contract ended. That he accepted the seychellesvpasport though he is not entitle under laws, show why pl recruit these foreigners to come and control our insitutions, namely to rape and abuse power. Our justice system as our ambassies should be controled by seychellois not indians oe else,we are sovereign..Fernando should be asked to hand back our passport he illegally obtained from pl,,and once his contract finish hebmust live for india and not stay here to feed himself on seychelles tax payers back.

Jenpa in his 2016 budget said“seychelles cannoz retain enough revenues in the countrywe know that Jenpa,it is becuase of corruption, all~inclusive hozels, monopoly, dependency on expats and Gop whi creaze financial leakage.... The question is when would pl stop patronage, monopoly, dependency on gops and expats, and made foreign.hotel owners pay their fair share.“...

Michel in speech in front of spdf said“to zhe militarythat zhey must be loyal zo zheir superior,in other words to him “Seems michel fear a coup detat..Michrl also said zhat“some want to stabilize zhe country,“in other words michel zhink zhe opposition who won thr election should not ask for a zhitd round,or dexchellois should not remove him,for removing him equal didtality ,civil war and chaos,,,he believes he has a devine power to rule for eternizy seycheles.Michrl and his gang, are in fact zhe motor of instability .....dictazordhips were never factors of stability .

How the hell does a simple Seselwa Racine stand a chance in the court of appeal against the state when Fernando is presiding ? Fernando has obligations to meet vis a vis James Misel - So we will never get a fair judgement in cases where Fernando has to 'pay back his masters'. In any case, it is a farce to see Fernando granted Seselwa citizenship.

Foreigners as judges is something odd and must be stopped. Why should a foreigner with no connection wizh seychelles and seychellois influence seychelles justice.
A juge is exercising a public office and execises sovereign rights.Hence, zhat is why most countries require that the respective juge be a national.
Making a Gop worker seychellois citizen illegally does not make hima legal citizen of seycheles,And as juge Fernando should know that he is an indian gop worker and cannot be entitle to seychelles citenery.Fernando as pl are raping seycheles constitutionand laws.......Fernando should go back tobindia and let seychellois be the garants of justice in their own sovereign land.

Michel tells the army to be loyal to him,and literally not all the countrys citizens, freedom.Amy must protect the people, not participate in the terror of a one man who electrd himself as president.Nor a frailing and afraid dictator. They there paid by tax payers to protect zhem, defence their freedoms from crooks like michelvand gang.
The army should in fact long sent a clear message to pl,namely, zhat the people will and decisions are supreme,nd who raped it would be forced to stop by the army guns.
Pl has divided the country, oppressed seychellois, zherefore it cannot proclaim to be a stable system. An illegal system cannot provide unity, peace and stability, but pave thevpath for division zhat distabilize a nation.
I am caling on thecarmy to do their duty by toppling pl illegal system of devision, that has novlegitimacy to rule seychelles.

It has bern more than a year now, that oil on international markrt has been at free falls.Thoigh oil price has bern soo long at tts lowest.CAT COCO continues to charge pharaoic ticket prices. When would Pl finaly, force catcoco to stop sucking praslinois and tourists with its unjustice astronomic price?

Jenpa said, seycheles does not retain enough revenues in the country,My question to Jenpa,is when is hr goong to stop monopolies, finacial leakages created by All~Inclusive five starvhotels, financial leakage created by dependency on cheap slaved expats, who do not even pay tax from their salary, fight corruption, robbery?
What about making five star hotels pay higher tax for zhose employing lots of expats, just like michels Arabes friends in saudi arabia, uae, oman rtc..are doing in order to reduce expats on their soils and advantage zheirvown citizens.
Why has pl still not made zhese big luxurious yachts owners pay mooring and parking fee?why is pl continuing to gift seycheles rconomy to foreigners who create unsustainable economy and made seycheles economy deprndent on foreigners, jenpa?
21 cents teduction on oil price is a joke jrnpa? An empty beer bottle cost more than that jenpa.

Regarding granting citizenship to any foreigner, the Citizenship Act needs to be changed. At the moment this law reads:

Citizenship for distinguished service or under special circumstances

5. (1) Where the President is of opinion that a person has done signal honour or rendered distinguished service to Seychelles, or the person is otherwise meritorious, the President may, notwithstanding anything in section 9A, with the consent of that person, cause the person to be registered as a citizen.

Subsection (1) amended by Act 11 of 2013 with effect from 2 December 2013

(2) The President may cause to be registered as a citizen any person, not otherwise entitled to or eligible for citizenship, with respect of whom special circumstances exist which, in the opinion of the President, warrant such registration.

(3) For the purposes of subsection (2) the special circumstances are –

(i) (a) the person possesses an extraordinary ability in science, arts, education, economics, business, law or sports;

(b) the person holds a university degree at doctorate, master or bachelor level in an area which is likely to contribute significantly to the development of Seychelles;

...

Considering this we cannot consider Fernando's citizenship as illegal.

The law needed to be changed first.

These powers bestowed to the President opens the door for abuse of powers.
It must be curtailed if we are to claim democratic credentials.

Anonymous said...

Law must changed, too much abuses ,also zhe part that allows Government to recruit foreigners in high positions as judges,Ambassadors............These are high public offices which needs nationals control not foreignes.......

Anonymous said...

Law must definitively be changed.Just figure this out.Under actual law,Fernando who does not anything about seychelles culture ,history, and share nothing in common with Seychellois,,could have been literally a Presidential Candidate two years after he set foot on seychelles soil. This can not be tolerated.

The presidential powers under numerous statutes make the president too powerful.
Iin Seychelles this is dangerous given the president at times can be an idiot with the support of more idiots, and of course a plethora of yes men and as s kickers who stay silent when power is abused.

Right.A Parliamentary system would be best.

Anonymous said...

There is a great lack of ideas flowing through the veins of the people who run the country. The executive system has failed us since Rene left.
Seychellois do not vote for the smartest man or best man.

They vote based on other points, change for opposition, fear and victimization, for PL.

The dee ration on both sides means solid leaders are sideline.

Look at Amesbury and Boulle and Pillay. All were better then Ramkalawan as alternative. Much better, all from a different league.

Yet people are desperate and they vote for the least capable person, not the most capable.

Parliamentary system will help adjust this anomaly.

Normally a 13 month salary is paid at the end of the year.Pl is going to disttibute it mid January and the reason for that is,that,Pl has finally convinced themselves that a Third Round is inevitable. So pl is already on campaign and by giving ,13 month salary in Jan,would no doubt have a positve effect forvpl.
But what i am disturbed by is Ram.passivety on thecissue,he who first propose the idea, sitand look at pl,and does not even react.

Ramkalawan is packaging the opposition for a sell out garage sale in my view.
He has said. New party will contest the coming elections.
He said the same thing when he co-opted SN!M former MPR that returned to Seychelles in 1993, and NAP " National alliance Party run by Boulle in 1094.
After he was finished with them, not even Boulle could get Ramkalawan to take a phone call from him for years.

The Presidential elections were stolen according to Ramkalawan. Most likely he is right.

What did he do the day Michel was taking Oath at State house on a Sunday?
He called for a rally at Fun Park, Anse Royale 16 miles away from where the Oath was being stolen.
This is quintessential Ramkalawan.
Now he hinges his claim to power on a court ruling.
Yet he says the courts are bias .
Why?

Ram made the wrong choice for his Vice President, when he has experience personalities like Pillay,Afif around him.
At Anse aux Pin,after three rounds of recounting the ballots,in which the first two counts gave the Opposition the win,and after a darkout and third count and by magic gave pl the winner,Ram failed to deliver,he was asleep at arpent vert.
He has become the symbol of failure.

80 votes from a win and all he said is: " there will be problems in Seychelles".
This is like walking into your bedroom, you see your wife in bed with a neighbor and you say: " Sweetie, there will be problems if you continue like this".

Ok, tomorrow we go to Anse Royale Fun Park! We will dance sing, and wave!

Pathetic!

Typical Ram.....he does not fight the actual fight he face in real time,he instead tells what he would to in the next fight. That is a tactic that leads to defeat.

Ram always prospone the battle he must fight today for tommorow.when tommrow comes,he prospone the battle for the day after tommmrow, nnd he goescon and on like this.
