The Time.....Was Stolen! - Seychelles Presidential Elections 2015

The SNP led by Wavel Ramkalawan ran in the Second Round run off Presidential Elections last month under the slogan: " The Time Is now".  At the count of the votes and declaration of the winner, Mr. James Michel, from ruling party PL. " The Time ......Was Stolen" according to Mr. Ramkalawan.

Time is the Most Precious Resource In The World

Time is the most precious resource in the World. More valuable then Gold, when you have it- it is sweeter then  honey , when you do not have it, it taste as bitter as vinegar to the tongue.

At the interim between time, flustered optimism can allow you think you have more time then you really do. I leave this point to self assessment of those who cannot take critique.

Thank You Mr. Gappy Great Job In Second Round"

The most appalling statement from Mr. Ramkalawan came after the announcement of the results of the Second Round. The statement was a gross abuse of our time, over 38 years under SPPF one party state, 22 years under SPPF PL since 1992. Mr. Ramkalawan said:" I would like to thank Mr. Gappy and his team for a job well done". Then he said: " this election was stolen", a blatant overt contradiction of what he had just said in what otherwise could have been a speech to move mountains. It moved nothing! If anything, it pleased the ears of PL as they held on with baited breath hoping Mr. Ramkalawan would not mention the fiasco at Anse Aux pins, and call on  Mr. Gappy to withdraw these results, do a recount at Anse Aux Pins and explain what happen there to the Public. He did not say a single word.

Perhaps this explains why the pulpits at Church this Sunday are empty and the Fidel are revolted and dejected. We are dejected! The People of Israel spent 40 years in the Dessert. How long are we Seychellois People to spend. What crime have committed to be condemned to such injustice. Is because we are simple fools or idiots? Are we too coward to embrace the challenges of Change. When we say " The Time Is Now" what does this mean?

The Oath, The Oath , The Oath

We all know as Mr. Michel reschedule the Oath from Monday to Sunday, Mr. Ramkalawan opted for a dejected rally at Fun Park , Anse Royale instead of a direct move to State House Avenue to protest what he refers to as " theft of the election of the Presidents Office". The argument is as follows why he did not move to state House Avenue: " Mr. Michel would have ordered the shooting and killing of his supporters".

This panic argument does not hold much water. Why? Here is why. Mr. Michel had just been crowned President in the morning, by Gappy. Mr. Ramkalawan had congratulated Mr. Gappy. There is no reason whatsoever for Mr. Michel to kill anyone at that point. He had recharged all his credibility to get through the week and organize at least the up coming holiday, to carry him into January since the first Observer Reports will take at least 45 days. Journalist left Seychelles without a story because Mr. Ramkalawan did not give them the story. Two from UK had enough time to visit me on Praslin to get the inside track on what the hell was going on Paradise.

Secondly, the time to move in protest was December 7 , 2015. This was the time. The Time was Now then, to take from Mr.  Ramkalawans slogan. This was it! Why? The entire international press corps was in Seychelles. Cameras would have followed Mr. Ramkalawan to State House. He had the attention of the world on  December 7, 2015- he blew it!

Thirdly, at that time, all the International Observers were still in Seychelles. James Michel would not dare touch a soul on this day. Ramkalawan blew it! Instead he went to  Fun Park yelled a little, his hair got a little more white, he got a little more frustrated, and he started to talk about Petitions and the National Assembly elections!

There you have it. Now you know why " The Time.......was Stolen" ! Let's stop bull shitting each other all of us and let's get serious about Nation building and restoring hope in the hearts and minds of our broken and dejected people.

We need God to place his healing hands over our broken and divided nation. We are divided into two. Which side you belong to no longer matters, how can we bridge the divide and bring our people together in reconciliation, not political hype is where we must focus .

When I say this, I am appealing to PL and Mr. Ramkalawan and company to find common ground, dialogue, bring the country together, find a way. Because neither PL or SNP can run Seychelles any longer on their own. I know that, you know that. Those who do not know this need to intellectually be honest with themselves.

Those Who Suffer- I know How It Feels!

Those who suffer must be heard. They must heal. Pl and SNP must not be so cruel to tie healing with change of regime as a precondition. We need to hear from the victims families. We need to hear from the killers, we need to hear everyone. Start the process of healing before the country breaks in two pieces, then twenty pieces. Too many suffer in silence in this country.

Gill I 100% agree with your reconciliation strategy. FAR called out for this some 3 or 4 years ago. FAR is no old fool, he is still a sharp devil. FAR can see the net closing in on their 38 years of atrocities, corruption, murders, intimidation etc etc.....Unfortunately, the ball is in SPUP/SPPF/PL to initiate this reconciliation process. They should start this process by involving serious members of the opposition who have Seychelles at heart for all Seselwa. FAR & JAM should make a serious appeal to the families they have affected over the years., If they are serious they can make a start and come clean with the 'skull case' and ask for forgiveness from the family involved. I am sure FAR & JAM are aware who the skull belongs to. They did not pull the trigger - but they orchestrated it. Seselwa will start having hope if PL were serious about reconciliation. 12:15

I am simply putting the matter on the national table.
This should be the mandate of Michel. If he cannot rise to the occasion to do it, it should be developed by Mr. Danny Faure.
It is the only realistic way forward, and it will end all this ridiculous Populism that our economy cannot afford.
The country must heal.
Such an agenda cannot be proposed by the opposition.
It must be genuinely proposed by PL.
If there is any thing close to Mandela in the PL house, please stand up.

enough of critics!!! lets get some positive ideas of how to move forward/Christopher your personel problem with wavel is escalating too much on the elections issue.
I am not a supporter of wavel but I wll not vote for PL.hw can we move fwd with so much hates! U dont criticise Michel that much do you?He is the problem here....Wavel did not kill anybody nor deport anybody....give the oposition a chance...Michel is happy to read about your hate for wavel .....Mandela came back and choose to forgive his enemies as he could not live with that much hate.you also did a lot of things that people were not happy about....or we did not understand!
My uncle went on the street against NYS and he was deported and lost his whole life.
Fighting and hate will not help.

I have come to the conclusion that we have a big problem of inferiority complex here in Seychelles. Kate Adie had a little reporting on BBC Radio 4 in UK on Saturday. Someone decided to upload this to 'Seselwa Annou Koze' For some reason the posting on Seselwa Annou Kosze got over 2500 hits/viewing within 24 hours. This is the a record for Seselwa Annou Koze. I suppose everyone is hoping the BBC & Kate Aide will make a massive difference for us here. Unfortunately, we have to grab the bull by the horn and create our own freedom. Do not rely on BBC or any foreign reporters of election observers to initiate this change. Wavel has to start leading and we will follow.

A very aloquent article
What we have learnt from the pl experience is that the concept of the party as a vanguard which has the right to rule by virtue of calling itself something that makes it appear likeca permanant godfather of society,is a desaster. This is the situation pl finds itself today by design or by accident and it has to find a way out of this because this position is no long viable.

There is need for negociation in Seychelles because even pl .
today tries to hold on to power,it will no longer be able to continuing ruling the country in thexway it has done since 1976.,and should be genuinely seeking some break with the past,And at the same time, the Opposition is clearly not dealing with a defeated pl,and a total take over of power by them in Seychelles can not be without serious problems,..my not be reallistically posed.

What should be import in not who won or lost, but to fnd a way to ensure that no matter who won orclost, both sides must agree to cooperate in whatever form in solving thr common problrms of the country.
In this current poltical circumstances of the country, unity is a very sensible proposition.Therecis need for political leaders to sit down and talk, negociate, interact and cone with a political dispensation that brng unity to the country

This means,in essence, that all sides must share comon commitment to thecwelfare of that country andcits people and the basic values that are needed to achieve that.Politicians in pl and the opposition donot necessary havecto like each, but the country, and that they must toleratr onecanother and acknowledge that each has a legitimate and important role to play

Human beings never draw away from thechonest good they seek and be influenced by others considerations.Under the actual status quo, neither pl nor the opposition can govern the country becthrmselves.Reconciliation, unity is endispenable tovmove forward.

In the same way that our good national intentionss at independence rapidly deteriorated because we did not create a platform to comfront devergence and reconcile it with the future we wanted ti create,We will continuecto face these similar divisive chalenges if we donot address the causes have carried since independence. We still prefer to carry the scars of our division without dressing and addressing the wounds to ensure nations healing, unity and oness as,a people.Lets face the damage we ourselves have produced.
The time for national healing and reconciliation is today.

It is time now,to transition to the politic of multi~partisanship, cooperation and colaboration.Practicaly,it means advancing the intrests of the people.
As the saying goes“yesterday is gone, tomrrow is not ours, and what we,have is today“
