Twomey I Kosto!

Chief Justice Mathilda Twomey who is known to have her ears to the ground, reknowned for her courage and frankness has announced to the Seychelles public, her job is to administer Justice in the courts and she dismisses the threats, text of the Public to attempt to influence the outcome of cases....all cases, before the Courts.
Having work with Mathilda over the Constitution of the 3 rd Republic, I can assure you the Seychelles Public, Mathilda means business. Anyone who slanders her, does so at the risk of being proven wrong.
Her character is principled, steadfast, no nonsense. Her legal ability is on par with the best.

Seychelles can sleep well at night knowing Mathilda administers Justice in Paradise.

Mr. Michel was wise to appoint her, perhaps too wise for his own good; the appointment is for life, unlike the office of the President- which has term limits and subject to term elections that are Free, Fair, Credible.

May God Bless All Freedom loving Seychellois!

I trust her, though her acceptance ro sworn iin Michel on A public holiday when she could have told Michel simply No,raises concern.

As to michel he posted congrulation leters from foreign country and apperentlLy thinkong by doing he thinks will give him legitimacy.
Or hevthink foreign congratulation lettersbmean overuling seychellois .
I heard also pl asking “if The Bishop,a foreigner, should speaks his mind“A legal spiritual leader he does.......what about Etihad/khalifa meddling in our affaires pl?

Many of these countries whi sent michel congratulation letters, did the samevwhen Mugabe robbed the last elections.I am sure north korea, cuba, venezeula, belarus sent michel ltters too.but michel does not post them on nation

Of course those congratulation letters are part of the diplomatic protocol. Whoever wins an election will receive congratulation letters from countries they have diplomatic relations with. It doesn't matter if you are Saddam Hussein, Colonel Gaddafi, Fidel Castro or - James Michel. Those are pre-drafted letters that mean nothing!

It is paramount, I will say critical, for James Michel to obtain a cross section approval of the Local observers and international observers that the Second Round was : 1 Free, 2 Fair, 3. Credible.

Failing to obtain this, the future stability of Seychelles will be at risk ,paving the way for civil disobedience, strife, discord, and the country will unravel bit by bit, day by day, much like Zimbabwe has to the scorn of the west.

Dialogue by allarties is now critical, but to the Opposition now, a 3 rd round. A 3 rd round will be critical to Michel as well in 3-6 months when the political landscape and sheer legitimacy will be the the chopping block.

Totally agree.I donot see any cross section approval coming at all for if itvwas free and fair, they would have long done so.

No quasi - elected leader in the democratic culture cultivated over the last 35 years in Africa, can sustain and remain in power without sanctions, international for not coming to power with the : free fair credible insignia Mr. Gill highlights correctly. If the stamp of approval does not role in the Seychelles president will remain dubious and doubtful as a legitimate elected leader. This is a matter for the people to decide, act, place pressure in the right places at the right time. The challenge is not for the novice. Good luck.

Right!Gills put it in contence above.National Dialogue though would seem to me the best option for michel to avoid the chopping block.Imagine Michel engage thr Opposition, fing comon ground and put the country and people of seycheles before selves,it could pave the way for not a third round or face street protest.....but ...Michel could Resign in ,30 days, hand power to Faure his Vice President,The latter could then form a National,Unity Government for the coming five years. Here again, the people would approve or disaprove the deal. The later, can be consulted via a Referendum.

Nice idea - but this will not happen. The devil never give up. Despite he's thinking that he is the elected leader of all Seychellois.

Zippy be positive.
The situation is quite fluid.
Much hinges on the rulings in Court.
Judge / s may rule Michel 3 rd term is Null and. Void. This may present another question: " Is Michel qualified to stand for elections in a 3 rd Round if he has been sworn in by Chief Justice on 3 rd term?
The Petitions pose numerous legal issues that will test the democratic stature of our Justice System. Will she survive the test?
I honestly do not believe Michel thinks he is the bona Fide elected leader of Seychelles. He believes both sides did tricks but he out did the opponent, and this is normal in any country. It's business as usual. He does not see what all the fuss is all about.
The situation is as fluid as Ram makes it. He is the man of the hour, for good and for bad, for better or worse.
The Chief Justice and company will be the women and men of the year, for good and for bad, better or worse.
Michel has pretty done everything he can do or is going to do. His best plan is an exit strategy with some dignity if that is possible for him.

Agree. Situation is very fluid -anything can happen. A third round would alleviate situation perhaps. It may also crush the stability card if not handled well .

ZippyIn order to carry positive actions,we must hhavecapositive vvision
THE COURT will be the refree. As Mathilda made clear “it would take months before court could rule on the issue“She surely deepcin side her mind strong believe it would take at,least a year.I just want bring one hypothesis kof what would happen as the court has heared, listen and finally come to a verdict...namely If the court order a thitd round ,pl has the right to protest verdict and thereby,we will see the court going over pl protest, that is another year long court battles betwwen pl and thecopposition, whic might never end until michel ends hiscterm,or at the sameclength, opposition engaging in street protests, that would paraliize the country economy forcthe coming five years,Fivec years instability that the country economy would be able to absotd,or sutvive........Why does our politicianns chose the right ,rational, andvlogic way, namely thr Seycelios way NTional Reconciliation by having a Nationsl Unity Government as foundation stone.

The country must strive to maintain stability. It is incumbent of all parties to dialogue, start clearing up the built up files turning into moss of hate.
This dialogue must also include how matters will be handled once judgment is made in the courts, irrespective of the side Lady Justice sword shall swing.
The time to demonstrate maturity is now on all sides.
Judging from the content of the debates and arguments presented to the Peoplee in the last two rounds - there is much to be desired and both sides can do better, much better.
Remember we are facing another world economic criisis, leaders on all sides must remain serious.

Time to stop political intrigues.Unity government seems to be the immrdiate solution ,essential for Stability,National Reconciliate and to face the coming economic hardship announced for this year and beyond.
Dialogue!Have direct talk to end impasse and set up modalities for a Nat.Unity Government, and herald a new beginning for Seychelles.
Constitution must be ammended to acommodate the new dispensation.
Hold a referrndum for public approval .
Set upa strong national agenda, and policies ,manifesto on which the Nat.Unity Govt will run on.

Competive, fair, free and credible electoral processes are essential for achieving true demoncracy. However,in situtations where the outcome is tightly contest and the result is dividing affaires, the period of an Inclusive Govt may be the balanced solution to build national unity, reconciliation, stability and face the coming economic hardship.

4;16 is 100 %.
We must deal with our political issues in the context of dealing within Reality.
We must not drag the past into the equation aside from reconciliation which is a tall order in itself.
We must choose what we want.
It starts with the leaders on both sides.
I am retiring.

Allow me to say a few words on our govt signing of the WTOs (FTA) Agreement.First as it alaways the, casein a one party system, the deal was decided and signed without national ,consultation and debates.
FTA,is initially aim to fast track any movement of Goods among countries.by cutting down bureaucratic obligations. However, the problem with FTA runs in a,Clause that says farmer sudsidies can not be more than 10Percent than the value of agricultural productions.A clause that would be unable to be supported by local farmers .And if the 10% cap is breached ,other members can challenge it and go on toimpose trade sanctions on the country. In other words, other countries will decide what best for seychelles farmers, therby rape our National sovereignty and constitution.
To implement the FTA ,there is no doubt small countries likecSeychelles compare to its industrialized trade prtners, will suffer due to the unfairness, and expensive nature of this .
There is no doubt, that zhe FTA agreement ,will bring more harm, zhan any benefit to the country. Why?For it gives foreign producers/products,n unfairxadvantage and will cost domestic jobs and put at great risk out Food Security Objrctives.
The leading principle in the,WTOs FTA agrrement on Agriculture,is that market forces should control agricultural policies rather than a National commitment to guarantee Food Security and main family farm incomes.Zhat isvmore deprndency on exported goods and less local productions .Hence, this policy facilitate the dumping of heavily subsidisied industrially produced food into poor countries, undermining local production, thus affecting local farmers,Food Srcurity objectives, and more and more canned products as we can see displayrd in Hypercmarket at Dockland......that is eatingvmore unhealthy, thus risk of more healzh problem, produce less locally, and out us at food, security risks.
