The Seychelles Chamber of Commerce (SCCI) Sub Committee on Praslin, Chaired by Christopher Gill, and supported by SCCI Chairman Mr. Marco Francis have held a historical first ever meeting on Praslin with key players on the economic-financial playing field of Seychelles with the Praslin business community on Friday February 27th, 2015.

. In attendance was the Governor of the Central Bank (CBS) Mme. Caroline Abel, newly appointed Minister of Finance Mr. Jean Paul Adam, newly appointed Minister of Investment Mr. Michael Benstrong, Mrs. Maryse Berlouis, Principal Secretary of Investment, Dr. Steve Fanny, Mr. Rupert Simeon (Seychelles Investment Bureau (SIB).
The meeting was also attended by the Seychelles Bankers Association Chairman, and numerous commercial banks were present including: Barclays Bank, Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) ,Seychelles Commercial Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of Ceylon and the Nouvobanq.
In attendance were over Fifty (50) strong businesses representing a cross section of the Praslin business community from fishermen, to boat charters, excursions, ferry service, destination management companies, hotels, restaurants, suppliers, Taxi operators, omni bus service operators, farmers.

Top on the list of priority of issues to resolve was the high ticket prices on Air Seychelles domestic, the need to put into effect the cut of VAT on interisland cargo, the need to reduce VAT on goods, services and salaries in a deflationary cycle, the Pension Fund entering the self-catering business to compete with small hotels already suffering low occupancy below 50%, high cost of loans, interest rates, and the unstable Rupee- Euro rates which affect the hotel industry adversely.
The meeting went on for Three (3) hours in a frank and to the point manner, terminating on a positive note, wherein the SCCI has committed along with the Ministry of Finance, to see what can be done to reduce the hardship of the Praslin business community to turn the investment climate on the island known to be the “Garden of End”.

No wonder Marco Francis won with 74% of the vote. This is half of the people in the Mahe AGM.

The meeting was very successful and we expect success to build on success. United the Praslin Business Community can over come the obstacles and barriers that are hindering their progress and prosperity. But everyone needs to get involved and not a single person should stand by and wait for someone else to do the work that will make their business work better.

The main issues plaguing Praslin are high astronomical air line tickets- DOMESTIC from Scr. 1800.00 - Scr. 3875.00 round trip for Tourists.
Followed by HIGH VAT 15% plus 1.5 % CSR which operates like a VAT.
Then Monopoly regimes in place by DMC's and affiliated companies. DMC function as monopolies.
We ask them to adjust their trade practice to return to their initial mandate which is to serve the Tourism Industry, and spread their businesses a little bit more, share with the local businesses as all Seychellois are shareholders in the Tourism equation.
They can do it in an amenable manner the DMC business does not have to be regulated by ANTI MONOPOLY Legislation in Seychelles.
Failing amenable adjustments , we will have to press GOS to implement strict ANTI- Monopoly laws that regulate and control distribution of revenue from Tourism.

You are now firmly rooted in Lepep camp. Unbelievable!

Lepep rig elections so does Gill. He has been busy on Praslin paying people with small businesses to vote for a man with a fake degree. It shows how much he has learned from the ruling party when he crossed the floor. There was not a shear of evidence Rene wanted to kill him. It was a hoax. A hoax in which he used to rigged the election at SCCI. If his life was in danger he would have gone back to Guam a long time ago. This man worked for Lepep in the past and still does.

Gary is back ! Cheers coward! I do not run and abandon my marsh house for rats! I deal with the Devil and his mess everyday. I do not work for him like your family does.
I would rather die with my boots on my feet, then to have them hanging dry on the chimney at my hour of death.
That is the difference between you and I . This is why you are an unworthy Administrator . This is why all you do is copy and paste.

security guard is not a bad job, but Gary is just a simple pizza delivery boy!

Mr. Tall may be a simple pizza delivery boy or he may be a security guard. What ever his occupation, we respect his right to express himself even if we do not agree with him.
Unfortunately he is not mature enough to do the same with others.
He has never out grown S2.
While he is prolific in his expressions via copy and paste medium, we must all be mind ful that he does this : 1. from England, 2. sitting in his couch, 3. while we in Seychelles live with the : 1. consequences of a failing PL, 2. bad policies, 3. in the final say, it is up to us to bring responsible change in Seychelles, since when that happens, Mr. Tall will very likely still be on his couch.
Thank you.

Mr St Agne you have really done so much in a little time for the tourism industry....From Carnival,Moutia festival,etc..etc. Ofcourse there are much more to be done.

I could imagine at a highly touristic site ,like Buea Vallon,or In victioria to increase lifenights attivities for tourists and locals in the Capital...that we not only open certain shops like souvenir shops, but alos bars, karahoke bar, piano bar, hardrock café,etc,, until late at night in Victoria...but in the future..a CABARET ....where locals professional dancers an perfrom our traditional dance,(A kind of musical)with modern dance(their own creation)somewhere in Victoria and performance two to three times a week .Something like the world famous TRPOPICANA CLUB or cabaret in Cuba ,known for their voluptuousness ,with their cabaret showcase,a kind of sequin-and-feather Musical theater, copied in PARIS,LAS VEGAS,N York...of course ,we donot want to copy CUBA...they have their own culture and style ..but something similar ..that is combining Moutia,Sega,KAMTOLE;TINGE and modern dance(also reviving old Seychellois musical instruments like MAKALAPO;BOM;) could be a potential and popular night attraction for tourists.....
